Buckwheat! I just added buckwheat to my diet! You may have seen hints that I've been doing some allergy testing over the last month or so. Since it is still ongoing I am keeping it on the down-low and will be sharing the whole journey at the end of March. The reason I decided to get tested again is to find out if there are any foods I can add to my diet. And so far I have added buckwheat! Yipee! You can read all about how and why I was able to try buckwheat over on the blog. I will be doing a food challenge in March and hopefully I will be able to add a few more things, or if anything can add some foods with a particular 'may contain' into my diet.
P.S. Still totally need to avoid peanuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, and soy... can you guess what food I will be challenging in March? It's one of my big allergens! 🍞
P.P.S. This is the bread I made to try buckwheat for the first time. It's @miglutenfreegal's husband's grandfather's recipe and is definitely worth making! .
buckwheat bread ! / chlebek gryczany •0,5kg of buckwheat (not roasted) / kaszy gryczanej (niepalonej) •0,7l of water / wody •4 tsp of Himalayan salt / łyżeczki soli himalajskiej •herbs (eg. of Provence) / zioła (np. Prowansalskie)
1. Leave buckwheat with water for 24h / kasze zalana woda odstaw na 24h
2. Strain the buckwheat, add salt and herbs, mix / odcedź kasze, dodaj sol i zioła, zmiksuj
3. Whole mass put into the mold and leave it for the whole night / masę przełóż do foremki i odstaw na noc
4. Bake it! 1h in 180’C / piecz 60min w 180’C
Buckwheat and linseed loaf chilling yesterday on the balcony. Thanks to @drchatterjee(‘s wife) for the recipe. I was totally amazed at how dough like the combo of soaked buckwheat and linseed was. The prettiest of banana breads 🌸 Last weekend @yasminajoy_ and I enjoyed a four course Ayurvedic brunch that @jasminehemsley held at a beautiful restaurant in London called @astervictoria 🌿 The brunch consisted of golden mylk, pancakes, a chocolate millionaire shortbread and these beautiful buckwheat banana breads. As a Nutritional Therapist I always love to hear different ways of eating because I think that we are all individual, so what suits one may not suit another. Therefore, listening to Jasmine talk to us about the Ayurvedic diet, I think it's something I might look into further and try myself as a little experiment to see how I feel doing it 🤗 I also got a copy of her new book East by West so I can't wait to try some new recipes from there! 🌸💗🌸💗
Finally, I have managed the gluten-free, #yeastfree#buckwheatbread has a perfect result. I made a beet pate (I love beetroot) with almonds, garlic, lemon and olive oil to eat it with. Amazing #veganbreakfast !😍💞
