✧ I'm dancing into the weekend and with good reason!
✧ First, because I had another amazing Facebook Live with the lovely @guidetoyourspiritualself editing Chapter 2 of her book (if you missed it, you can watch the #replay or catch Chapter 3 next Friday at 10am EST)
✧ Second, because mon amour and I progressed very well together in our salsa lesson this evening, and even continued dancing when we got home...is it summer yet to go dancing outside???💃
am i the only one that freaks out about maintaining a perfect sketchbook? it’s probably a control thing - if I can control my sketchbook, that means I’m organized, productive & doing okay ❁
studying abroad in Italy is not what I thought it would be, but I’ve been taking risks in my sketchbook (78% me, 22% bossy study abroad program) ❁
don’t believe me? the words in the background of my blue sketch are the lyrics to God’s Plan #rebellious .
“urbino and ravenna: a travel guide” is live, so give it a look see! ❁ link in bio ❁ if you read it, let me know by commenting your favorite Drake song ❁

I have a confession to make.⠀
This time last year I left the job I was at thinking I would feel incredibly free and empowered, and instead... I realized I had no idea who I was. ⠀
I had focused so much of my energy outward (for years) that the lack of attention inward left me with zero ambition, ideas, or opinions. I felt more disconnected to myself creatively and more empty than I ever had without a job title to define me.⠀
Since then, I’ve been, for lack of a better description, working on myself.⠀
It’s been emotionally gruelling and eye-opening. It’s been terrifying and frustrating. And I think it’s been the most important year of my life. ⠀
Yes, this year, with next to no income, no title, and no accolades to show for it. Just me and myself, working through my layers, and coming back home.⠀
I still have a long way to go, and I still get pulled away from connecting to myself easily and need constant reminders.⠀
But I want to encourage anyone who is reading this who has felt stumped, disconnected, or unsatisfied, especially creatively, to begin putting energy back inward and facing yourself- even the stuff that isn’t so great. Because under that, that’s where the really good stuff is! ⠀
Your relationship with yourself is the most important one you’ll ever have. Books, writing, meditating, whatever helps you know yourself more deeply, make time for it because it matters!
Here the thing about writing: If you are bored writing your blog post, your reader will be bored reading it. If you don’t care about your topic, neither will your reader. ⠀
In Bird by Bird, Anne Lamont says: "If you find that you start a number of stories or pieces that you don’t ever bother finishing, that you lose interest or faith in them along the way, it may be that there is nothing at their center about which you care passionately. You need to put yourself at the center, you and what you believe to be true or right. The core, ethical concepts in which you most passionately believe are the language in which you are writing.” ⠀
When you write out of your core belief, there is a natural passion in your words that will resonate with your reader. (At the very least they will be intrigue by how much you care about the topic and keep reading to find out why it’s so important.) Additionally, what you are passionate about shapes your writer’s voice and attracts your ideal reader because it will feel like you are speaking just to them. (Have ever gotten a reader comment like “This is exactly what I needed to hear today,” or “I felt like this was written just for me!?” Then you are on the right track!) ⠀
If you are struggling with finding your place in this loud online world, look back through your blog comments and/or email responses and see what resonated with your readers. Then ask yourself, what common passion/core belief are behind these pieces?
"Acho que finalmente descobri como me sentir bem em relação à vida. Sempre que vir alguém muito feliz, lembre-se: essa pessoa também tem seus momentos não tão perfeitos. Claro que tem. "
E hoje tem resenha nova no blog.
Uma aprofundada na resenha que coloquei aqui na ig de "Minha vida não tão perfeita"da Sophie Kinsella

I absolutely love this quote and think every parent should have it framed on their wall. There’s no such thing as a perfect parent so just be a real one. Be present, authentic, trust your intuition and act always from the heart. For more books that inspire parents (and kids) to live amazing lives with intention check out the link in my bio.
This photo is the story of my life. My sweet toddler gave me a flower from the playground, and I took a photo of it. But my camera focused on my hand instead of the flower.🌸
Don't we do this all too often? Something good happens to us, but we are too busy focusing on things that aren't as important to fully appreciate our gift.
I don't want to be focusing on the wrong things. I want to appreciate the little things. Every gift. Every day. 💛
Are you someone who tries to focus on too many things at once? How do you try to let go of things that don't matter?
