Although tomorrow is the first day of spring, it's still feeling pretty wintry for some of us streamgages!
Hello from scenic Montana - streamgage 12338300, here, keeping an eye on my hydrotech Chad Reese as he measures streamflow on the North Fork Blackfoot River on the western half of the state.
I collect water height and flow data to ensure @NWS can accurately forecast floods, emergency managers have the information they need to keep people safe and water managers can make wise decisions. The USGS and Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks fund me. Anglers and recreation seekers also check my data before they head out to stay safe and have fun!

"Paul Heffernan and I struck out four days in a row on the Blackfoot. We called our longtime friend Shiloh Kerr @shilohkerr10 for help. Three days passed and we were still skunked. In classic trout bum tradition, Shiloh talked Paul into drinking a booty beer in order to get rid of our bad luck. It didn't work."

These days, there are about 450 employees at the Bonner Mill Industrial Park, but just down the road, a group of men meet at the Bonner Museum for coffee and remember an era when the spot had around a thousand employees. Bonner sits east of Missoula along the Blackfoot River. From 1886 to 2008, a lumber mill kept the area thriving. New developers took it over in 2011 and today, the changes are prominent. #nbcmontana#eastmissoula#bonner#blackfootriver#bonnermuseam
You know what is great about being a Montana beer lover? Making it your mission to sample and support all things Montana Craft. Plus this is my back yard.
Visited Big Heads Bottle Shop and this little guy caught my eye. Soursicle from Thirsty Street from Billings MT.
6.6% ABV Sour Belgian style aged in oak barrels over vanilla and orange peel. It is tart, with pops of citrus and earthy oak hints. Balanced carbonation and finishes slightly dry. Only critic, I didn't get much for vanilla, but I love that this brewery is keeping beer interesting.
Meanwhile, at our Blackfoot River project, Old Man Winter parties on. We won’t see much action on the exterior till “spring,” but the white oak floors are now done and a shop full of finished interior doors and vertical grain fir trim, from a sustainable mill nearby, is ready for install this week. Oh, and cabinets, did I mention cabinets? Forward, ever forward, as the Arctic explorer said. #montana#blackfootriver#customhomes#hardwork#lastbestplace#whiteoak @ncdesignstudio.architects @dig_montana
