So I borrowed this book from my friend since last year and I still haven't gotten the chance to read it yet. And it even started to turn yellowish. Other than that, it's in good hands, I'm keeping it safe and sound. 🙈
Do you do this too? Please say I'm not the only one. 😬
Shoeburn and the Ill-fitting Necklace by Shoeburn Ruffet
I was sent an ARC of Shoeburn and the Ill-fitting Necklace by the author @shoeburnruffet in exchange for an honest review.
Let me just start off with saying that overall I really enjoyed this book! Even though it was written for a middle school aged audience it is still interesting and advanced enough for adults! The writing style took a bit to get into at first, it closely resembles that of Lemony Snicket's, however the author definitely adds his own flair. The story revolves around Shoeburn Ruffet and how he gets wrapped up in a conundrum with a mysterious Regina Wendle that he had no intention of getting involved with. The story was over the top, but not in a bad way. The characters were unique and witty. A lot of the predicaments Shoeburn finds himself in are hilariously creative, however I feel they are somewhat lost on an older audience. Shoeburn uses a lot of unusual analogies that although were interesting and charming at first, did become a little tiring and repetitive the further into the story I got. Aside from that though, the distinct writing style really helped draw the reader into the mind of Shoeburn Ruffet.
The story ended with a lot of unanswered questions that left me wanting more. It was a quick, enjoyable read- I'm definitely interested in reading the next book!
Hello, everyone! It’s been a while, and for that, I’m sorry for not being as active! School has been very hectic this week.📖💕📚————————————————————————⚔️🥀I picked up The Assassin’s Blade at Books-A-Million! It’s one of the Throne of Glass novellas, and it basically tells of the journey before the entire Throne of Glass Series. It’ll give background on Celaena’s past experience and what formed her character. #throneofglass#novella#theassassinsblade#sarahjmaas#throneofglassseries
It's been a while since the last post, been a lot to do in real life, but here's a post! Yay!
So, I want to show you what I've been doing in my leisure time, I kinda proud about it loooool
Yes, I made a bookish candle jar by myself 😆😆
Niat banget ya, iya dong harus diniatin hahaha
Jadi awalnya itu karena penasaran bikin candle jar sewaktu nggak sengaja liat DIY di YT. Terus waktu nonton sampe kelar, aku berasumsi 'Wih, ternyata gampang juga ya bikinnya, kan lumayan tuh kalo punya bookish candle tapi murah, alias buatan sendiri.' Wkwk akhirnya bikin deh~
Awalnya aku siapin dulu semua barang yang diperluin, terus langsung mulai sesuai video DIY, dan ta-da, nggak sampe 1 jam semuanya kelar. Tinggal nungguin lilinnya biar kering doang seharian. Hari berikutnya, udah bisa langsung ikutan book photoshoot tuh wk
The result was waaaaay too simple, but I'm satisfied. Pertama, rasa penasaranku hilang. Kedua, punya bakat baru bikin candle jar, lol, just kidding hahaha Kedua, punya tambahan bookish candle jar ehehe. Ketiga, udah sih dua aja kayaknya 😂😂
So I made two jars.
Because she's one of my favorite heroine. I quote,
"Billions of people will come and go in this world, but there will never be another like you." From the third book of Legend Trilogy, Champion.
The other jar (not in this photo) was written Zhang Yixing in pinyin, or Lay's real name, member of band EXO, I love him so much and he's so precious for me. I quote,
"My Entire Universe is You." From a line he sings in Love Me Right song.
I put a short slide show on my story of how I made the candle jar from the start, please kindly check it 😁😁 And, Happy Weekend to all of you, have a nice time 😝😝
Q: Do you guys like doing DIY? What is it?
Intinya ini bukan review, tapi ngoceh 😂. Tanpa terjemahan bahasa Jepang ya, karena lagi malas 😅. .
🌚• Okay, but seriously, LOOK HOW FREAKING CUTE THEY ARE!! Elorcan for life guys, I swear they better get back to the loving, Sarah, both emotionally and physically please 😂🖤🖤 my first fan art and I seriously wish they were more easily accessible, but either way @gabriella.bujdoso did such an amazing job, especially incorporating Lorcans shadows embracing them and Elide looking so innocent and docile ugh I’ll cherish this forevs 👌🏼😍✨
🌚• So guys, like, that bright shiny thing that usually comes out during the day, yeah THE SUN finally made a goddamn appearance after dayssss of rain it was like a *cue the hallelujah music* moment and hopefully it sticks around for a couple days 🙌🏼🌞✨ especially since I STILL need to take more photos even though today was excellent weather to do so, of course I had errands to do 🙄🤷🏻♀️ but it’s okay cause I was kinda struggling for inspiration today, so hopefully tomorrow it’ll come back to me
🌚• Anywayssss, little bit of a reading update, I’m now on book 3 of Falling Kingdoms series and ugh so many feelsssss, I’ve been told it’s got a GoT vibe and I’m seriously seeing the connection cause SO MANY DEATHS like I can’t get too emotionally invested in these characters I have to tell my heart to stahp, don’t go there, spare my soul pls!! 😭💔🙈 but it’s not all tears, I’m enjoying the character development I’m seeing in Cleo she started off so snobby and now she’s blossoming into this badass rebel princess I’m really digging it 👌🏼☺️ what’re you guys currently reading??

•World water day: Yo ho Yo ho a Pirates life for me. To represent one of my favorite pirates it’s this awesome Lila Bard candle by @littlemousebookshelf Since I don’t own any pirate based novels 😫😭 I decided to go with mermaids as the main focus for this prompt because I am reading Bride of the Sea by @emmahammauthor and absolutely loving it!!! Thank you so much @bookendstours & @emmahammauthor for giving me an e-copy in exchange for an honest review I can’t wait to finish! ▪️
The Little Mermaid meets Irish Mythology in this retelling of the beloved classic...
A STANDALONE Otherworld Series Companion Novel
Once upon a time... Saoirse dreams of land. Her father has other plans, and intends to marry her off as soon as possible. When a ship sinks near her home, she carries the only surviving sailor to a faerie blessed isle and plans her escape. Manus dreams of the sea. He spent every coin in his pockets to get back on a ship but never expected the vessel to sink. When a merrow saves him, he realizes the chance meeting is an opportunity. She could make him rich and become his good luck charm, so the legends say. Now, he just needs to get off the isle she's trapped him on.
They intend to use each other, but find their souls drawn together bit by bit. Can either leave the isle and the sea without losing their hearts in the bargain?
Seriously add it to your TBR you will NOT be disappointed. ▪️
I'm forever thankful for those friends who stick around through it all. Life can separate people by distance and geography, but there are certain bonds that transcend distance. 💙 Tag a friend who you know you'll be close with forever.
It's blog tour time! 🎉

“I love you, precious. You’re the best daughter that any dad could ever ask for.”
“What, did you just call me a daughter?”
“No.” She giggled and tried to run away from me.
“Oh no, you can’t call me a girl and get away with it. You better get over here.” #amwriting The Monster in the Woods #mystery#wip#books#writersofinstagram
We finished this gorgeous book in class today. I love that my daughter now knows what manitou is, what it means to find calm and peace, how young girls can be in tune with nature, find ways to connect in deeper ways. Many of my own students are Dakota, a community not so distant from Anishinaabe, and there are some fantastic places of overlap and similarity, so we were able to connect, especially after our native storyteller came in yesterday, furthering those connective threads. Birchbark, cottonwood, manitou, dreams. So much can be said about this book and what it means to the larger culture, especially one so geographically connected to the Ingalls storyline (we are up the Mississippi just a bit from Pepin). Our little cottage near the small woods, corn field, small creek. Our classroom in a string, one of four lanterns in the early winter evenings. We are still waiting for the snow to subside; we are dreaming of spring. #megwetch#pidamayaye

I’ve been seeing this book everywhere! So there must be something in it that the Universe wants me to read 💫 (or maybe it’s because Reese Witherspoon put it on her book club list 😂) What are you reading on this rainy Saturday? 🌧

My peeps are KILLIN it as of late on the publishing front, and y'all know whenever this nerd girl travels "off the rock" I shop for books the way some ladies shop for shoes. (On the real, I like to keep it fly & get shoes too, but, between them, pages win every time. I digress...) So proud of SONYA RENEE TAYLOR, who has whipped up a whirlwind with her manifesto on unapologetic self-love. As I do with all my writer friends, I grabbed two--one for me & one to share. This one went to my mama--so you know it's the bomb ♥️ Grab a copy, you'll be so glad you did! Keep slayin em, Sonya! Thank you for your dedication to making the world a better place, one mirror at a time. 😍😍😍 #writerlife#shelfie#wellreadblackgirl#bibliophile#wordwarrior#bookish
Such a gorgeous pic by @author_sdaniels!! She originally posted on Twitter but I had to share here!
I can't believe my book has been out for a month now. Time has flown by so quickly and I've been on a bit of a hiatus, recharging my creative batteries for all the crazy plans I have.
Next week's challenge: write a novella in a week.
ONE CRAZY SUMMER (Y)
In this Newbery Honor novel, New York Times bestselling author Rita Williams-Garcia tells the story of three sisters who travel to Oakland, California, in 1968 to meet the mother who abandoned them. "This vibrant and moving award-winning novel has heart to spare."* Eleven-year-old Delphine is like a mother to her two younger sisters, Vonetta and Fern. She's had to be, ever since their mother, Cecile, left them seven years ago for a radical new life in California. But when the sisters arrive from Brooklyn to spend the summer with their mother, Cecile is nothing like they imagined.
While the girls hope to go to Disneyland and meet Tinker Bell, their mother sends them to a day camp run by the Black Panthers. Unexpectedly, Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern learn much about their family, their country, and themselves during one truly crazy summer.
This moving, funny novel won the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction and the Coretta Scott King Award and was a National Book Award Finalist. Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern's story continues in P.S. Be Eleven and Gone Crazy in Alabama.
Readers who enjoy Christopher Paul Curtis's The Watsons Go to Birmingham and Jacqueline Woodson's Brown Girl Dreaming will find much to love in One Crazy Summer.
This novel was the first featured title for Marley D's Reading Party, launched after the success of #1000BlackGirlBooks . Maria Russo, in a New York Times list of "great kids' books with diverse characters," called it "witty and original." *Brightly.com, in Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich's article "Knowing Our History to Build a Brighter Future: Books to Help Kids Understand the Fight for Racial Equality"

Happy Friday friends 🙌🏽✨ And coincidentally, another book about a single mama to round out the week. Admittedly a lighter read than ‘Lilli de Jong’ but just as good!! I loved Laurie Frankel’s ‘This is How It Always Is’ last year so I was eager to try ‘The Atlas of Love’ (her debut novel). About 3 graduate students living together when one gets pregnant unexpectedly and they decide to group parent. It’s was humorous at times yet bittersweet in others. For those looking for a spring-break read that is light but well-written and engaging, I recommend it! ✨📚 #livingbythepage
