Let’s do #fridayintroductions with a twist today. Here he is... the man behind the quilts. He’s my hubby and friend, my fabric-picking-helper, my wrangling-the-quilt-in-the-wind holder, my most enthusiastic fan, and my all around favorite person. Meet Matthew! He’s great. You’ll like him. @pawpastor
Almost ready for binding, cold tea included. Whenever I am making a quilt as a gift I take the time to make bias binding. Otherwise, I am straight grain all the way. How about you guys? #modernquilting#biasbinding#makersgonnamake
My#igquiltfest “Best Tip” is an easy way to cut bias tape binding. At QuiltCon I took @latifahsaafirstudios Airshow Bias Tape class and she taught us a much easier way to create this that I was doing before. A YouTube tutorial to the easy way to fold and cut is found below (I couldn’t find one on her website but will edit this if one exists!) After cutting you use the bias tool to iron it into a double fold. I love the look of curved and zigzag quilt edges that require bias cut binding and have done a few - but hated the process. In addition to using it for appliqué I will be more willing to do interesting edges for quilt bindings. https://youtu.be/-tC2wXu66Mo #igquiltfest#biasbinding#latifahsaafirstudios
Anybody finished neck and arms with bias binding (turned inside the the dress) for Betty dress? I did some free hand changes and this seems to be easiest option. If I will fit into the dress in 4 weeks is another question. Seems very tight just now. The back neckline is hanging far out so I shortened the front shoulder to have seam more on middle of shoulder plus I used at top of zip area 2,5 cm SA. My first one was rather roomy- this one rather tight. 🤔 #soibettydress#biasbinding
Tip of the day - bias binding is hella expensive in Hamilton stores. So I buy mine from Ali Express. Here's the difference: I bought a few metres of white bias binding in NZ because of an emergency cosplay and it cost around $5. This entire roll of bias binding (just over 22 metres) cost around $5 from Ali Express. I use the store Kele Store and they've always been really good.
I'm going to use this on a nightmare costume 😱 Touken Ranbu, of course 😂 #biasbinding#beingcheap#cheapcosplayer#cheapcosplay#toukenranbu#toukenranbucosplay#toukenranbucosplayer

Toadstool cushions for a little girl! I have never attempted piping before, but was really pleased with the end result. Grey fabric is 100% cotton from Ikea and I inserted a zip so the covers should be really durable and be up to lots of washing. I also used Bondaweb for the applique design which made it much easier to zig zag stitch around the edges!!! .
