Personally, I’m a little paranoid about squats and squat depth, mainly because last competition I missed a lift for lack of depth.

Interesting set, for sure - these 3-second 80x5 negative bench press wiped me out. Although I made a mistake the first set - I ended up doing 10 reps instead of 5...maybe that's why I'm so wiped out, I did more than what I was supposed to...😂😂😂😩😩😩

🚨🚨185X2🚨🚨 So... this happened. I guess I'm happy with it.  It's still pretty puzzling to me that according to interweb standards for my time spent lifting, my SQUAT is WAY above average, my DEADLIFT is above average but my BENCH is WAY below average.

Either way, I'm happy to say that I can bench my bodyweight for multiple reps with somewhat of a pause. LoL.

The last time I did this weight was at @stanton_strength King of the Hill in August 2017. I moved 160# for one easily, but failed on 180# for one.

I was probably tired, but the truth is I was weak, too.

So, knocking this out tonight for multiple sets and reps feels good.

A couple quick notes about this session.

1) I haven’t been arching my back when I bench. But I noticed I forget to engage my legs or I don’t do it well.

I arched a little and my leg drive was much better (and necessary). Not sure if there’s cause and effect there or not.

2) I don’t bounce the bar off my chest (usually). I like to feel tight and in control throughout the entire ROM.

It also feels like bouncing is making the hardest part of the exercise easier ...but at the expense of getting stronger at that part of it.

Maybe that’s just my ignorance. I dunno.

Anyway, I didn’t bounce on the first set. And I struggled towards the end.

It made a HUGE difference.

Working with dumbbells more as opposed to barbell just to make it a bit harder. .The 1/4 rep is once the weight is brought down lift up only a quarter of the way off your chest then back to yuppie chest before pressing to the top. .Really want to build my chest up but I struggle putting any mass there. Need advice... .Arnold press is fun and very different to military press so this will be kept up.

I don’t know why, but I want to beast in these. Every week I want to add more weight, but I don’t, due to getting my form in tact and building up that strength. These videos are a few weeks apart. Last night was the first time I added the baby weight plates! And it felt so good to finally add a lil bit weight on there. Tbh I have been bench pressing the bar for a while.. 🙈 but it’s all about baby steps and feeling out the right form because once you get your form right and your body and muscles memorize that movement, it only gets easier from there. .

Low bar squats killed my elbows on Monday and it really affected my bench 😣 it hurt bad and I tried to bench around the pain which made everything  a bit scrappy.  Another reason to hate on squats 😅 overall not bad for first bench session back from deload, oh and a PB too!

WEEK 9 DAY 2 Apr #powerliftingtraining -#benchpressday as usual. Still wasn't feeling 100% today, was tired and the pain from my side still hasn't gone away completely...feels like I pulled something...

The goal on incline bench press was to do a total of 20 reps of 75 in the least amount of sets - I completed all reps in 2 sets. The spoto press at 85 wasn't too bad either, felt more like a 6-7.
