I can’t even begin to explain the love I have for the beautiful country of Mexico. This place has a magic that is inexplainable and every single person I’ve met here is filled with so much love and light.
I feel so lucky to still have more than a month here to explore and meet more amazing artists and adventurers. 🌺✨🇲🇽
Chichén Itzá: my first time truly experiencing one of the famous Seven Wonders of the World ! ¿Did you know? The most recognizable structure of Chichén Itzá is the temple of Kukulkán, also known as El Castillo. This glorious step pyramid has 2 more layers of pyramids inside and was somehow built directly over a cenote, or limestone sinkhole! The amazing architecture of El Castillo demonstrates the accuracy and importance of astronomy. The temple has 365 steps-one for each day of the year. Each of the temple’s 4 sides has 91 steps, and the top platform makes the 365th. The Maya’s astronomical skills were so advanced that they even predicted the coming of solar eclipses! Furthermore, the length of each step was meticulously planned to look like the exact same height from below, taking into consideration depth perception. To this day, it is a mystery how the Maya’s were able to achieve the tedious architectural engineering with no other tools but themselves, deeming it one of the 7th Wonders if the World! 😄👀🌎 #chichenitza#mayanruins#7wondersoftheworld#sevenwondersoftheworld#travelmore#astronomy#backpackingmexico#backpackingcentralamerica
