I needed a break from traveling, it’s draining to constantly relocate and orientate. Here I don’t have to worry about visa runs, mid work power outage, very misheard vegan food requests or pouring a sad mix of cereals and ants into my bowl. I will spend a total of two unwinding months in Georgetown, so I’ll appreciate my further adventures properly.
A visit to the Batu Caves is not complete without the obligatory photo of Lord Murugan. This statue is the second tallest statue of a Hindu deity in the world. It's actually a fairly new addition to the mountain. Construction began in 2004 and it was unveiled in 2006.
Almost forgot to mention, it is SUPER easy to get here from KL without having to pay for a tour. Average tours range from RM80 to RM220. I took the train and bus roundtrip for about RM12 and the ride was very pleasant. Save your drink money 😉
Two months to the day since this trip began. It's been nice to reflect on the 6,000 overland kilometers and five countries passed over these last few days in the Highlands, before heading north today. 14,000 kilometers of road ahead of me.
I'll be in Langkawi for another 2 weeks and then I'm leaving this pretty island for a crazy experience in Sri Lanka.
I got invited for a 10-day Vipassana meditation course which I'm very excited about!
Anyone done one before?
