WARM FUZZY WEDNESDAY .
When it comes to a teacher, being reviewed as "approachable" and "friendly" is top shelf stuff 🏆. People can't learn unless they feel comfortable. Not talking an ugg-boot-wearing type of comfortable (but of course, the Uggies 🐑 are always welcome in my sessions.... they ARE Australian 🇦🇺, after all), but feeling like you can ask questions 🙋and fully commit to the learning. This is 100% what I am for with every session 🙌🏻. (It does help when you are teaching an awesome group of parents 👊🏻)

⭐️Top Safety Tip - Stair Gates ⭐️
🤕The most common childhood accident is Falls and falling downstairs is one of the most common things we see in A&E. 🤕Once your little one is crawling and standing they will love being able to pulls themselves up and hold onto the bottom stairs. It’s only a matter of time before they decide to climb and of course the top of stairs poses a big risk. 🤔Safety gates and barriers stop babies and toddlers climbing stairs and falling down them. They are also very helpful for stopping children going into rooms where it’s dangerous for them to be, like the kitchen. You can use them until your child reaches two. When they are two or over they may be able to climb over them or open them. Make sure they are securely fixed / drilled to the walls (sorry!). The ones that screw against the walls get loose over time and we’ve seen terrible accidents of babies falling downstairs or them falling onto babies. Plus they have a lethal step! 👍You can’t have eyes in the back of your head so stair gates are invaluable. It’s a long time before they truly understand the risks. Be prepared! @rospacharity #childsafety#babyfirstaid#homesafety#newparent#parenting#newmum#newdad#stairs#babystepsx#babyonthemove
During the summer, I photographed the hugely reassuring Janice from Thames Training doing her thing and teaching first aid.
Now when she asked for volunteers to do baby CPR, I threw my camera to @sarahsouffle and got down on the floor to just do it, however scared I felt.
At the time, my best friend had recently delivered a premmie baby boy and being small, he had developed acid reflux. So whenever I was with him, in the back of my head was the horrible freezing thought ‘what the F do I do if he chokes or stops breathing?’ Yes there is a hospital 10 minutes away, and it was so unlikely to happen but heaven forbid it did, what could I do? When I say he’s precious to me, that word really doesn’t explain the depth of care I have for him.
Now I do know I would just step up and do whatever I could but I did need the CONFIDENCE to know I would be giving him the best first aid I could.
This is why I would encourage everyone, parent, godparent, grandparent and best friend to learn how to do baby and child first aid.
Thames Training offer first aid training and Janice is soon to be launching her online baby and kiddie first aid course. It’s a minimal amount of time each week to watch her videos but what you gain is the confidence to know you have the knowledge in your head; and that you won’t freeze, you’ll just do what you’ve absorbed.
If you’re a someone in contact with kiddies and babies, please in touch with Janice to chat about her courses.
Time you invest now is such a peace of mind.
These photos are for her new website, so can’t wait to see them up there @james

Today I met with a lovely lady - Trisha a fellow Mum and Edinburgh small business owner of @preciouspeopletraining. As we chatted as fellow mums it was apparent that we as parents have the same fears for our children especially when it comes to having first aid knowledge and skills and being able to practically use them.
I really wanted to meet with Trisha as I know that many of the mummies that come to my classes would be interested in locally run first aid courses so am delighted to be teaming up with @preciouspeopletraining... so, watch this space!
Trisha is running an introduction to baby and child first aid course @leafandbeanedinburgh on 28th February with more courses, dates and locations to be added 👍🏼. #supportlocal#mumlife#babyfirstaidcourse#babyfirstaid#collaboration
Last night I braved the weather, my mum cold and a pancake-induced-food-coma to teach a sold out Baby & Child First Aid session in Gerrards Cross. Mums, dads, grandmas and nannies learnt how to save lives. They absolutely rocked. They made me laugh. I had a ball. Loved it. Even Gerry the barman had a great night (he didn't actually say that). Thanks all and welcome to the proactive parent tribe. 👊🏻
Next session is Tuesday the 20th in Beaconsfield.
Did you know that 50% of burns in the home occur in the kitchen?
As most of us will reach for the frying pans today there is a higher risk of burns from hot frying pan handles, hot oil and poor pancake flipping techniques.
So here is some first aid and safety advice to help make your pancake day a safe one. ✨Turn frying pans so the handles do not stick out, especially with young children around. They can easily get knocked off the hob and cause an injury. Use the back hobs if possible. ✨Supervise children in the kitchen at all times ✨NEVER leave a frying pan unattended when the heat is switched on ✨Take care when cooking with oil, it can overheat very easily. If it starts to smoke, its too hot. Turn off the heat and leave to cool. ✨If the oil does catch fire DO NOT move the pan and NEVER use water to put out an oil fire. Dial 999. ✨Double check the cooker and hob are off when you’ve finished cooking. ✨Test your smoke alarms.
If you do burn yourself: 💦COOL with water for at least 10 minutes 💦REMOVE clothing or other items that may cause a restriction (unless stuck to the skin) 💦DRESS with a non adherent dressing, such as cling film.

“Pirmosios pagalbos mokymai: kūdikio ir vaiko gaivinimas” Verta nueiti turintiems vaikus iki 8 metų.
Nusiųsti savo tėvus.
Vis dar daug žmonių turi tik įsivaizdavimą “kaip padėti”, tačiau praktika yra visai kitokia, o seni, iš 80’tųjų girdimi patarimai labai atgyvenę ir ne tik kad negelbintys, bet galintys pridaryti rimtesnės žalos.
Mes su vyru buvom.
