Sometimes my rooms see very little change for many years, then occasionally I add something new that alters everything. While we still had dogs, the daybed in my studio was always covered by a white matelasse bedcover, from Ikea , no less, from a stack that I have had for years, because they could be washed in the machine, and because the dogs were always allowed to sit anywhere. Big dogs seem to be able to get muddy even in a desert. But now that it is just the bird and I, the bed has a new dress, an early 19th century quilt with the most wonderful pattern of orioles in oak trees and roses and honeysuckle. And the reverse is just as good, with flowers in stripes next to stacks of pinwheels, all in flowing blue and cream. So until there is another dog to sit on the bed, I will enjoy this little bit of delicate beauty. #stampsandstamps#interiordecoration#historicarchitecturalrenovation#southpasadenahouses#fineandbeautifulthings#artistsstudios With my favorite present pillow from my friend forever @egraham81

In keeping with getting to know one another folks are sharing their favorite tools. This is “Short Sugar” and I love her. In the zombie apocalypse it’s going to be very difficult to carry her around on my back. 😂 She was my graduation present from the Elk when I received my MFA from ECU. We had only been dating six months! He went to great lengths.☺️❤️ Short Sugar is sitting on a tree stump that has a story too. When the Elk first came to visit me, before I was finished with grad school, one of the first things I did was take him to see my favorite tree, which was behind our house on the next block. It would’ve taken four adults holding hands to fully hug that tree. The VERY next morning I woke up to the sound of chainsaws!!! You would not believe how huge this beautiful Laurel Oak was! This tree stump was one of her branches! 😭 I went up to the folks at school, to check in and tell them what was going on. I ran back to talk to the workmen. Many other artists from the art building followed me. And some of the professors in the sculpture department also got some of the wood from it. So this great tree went on to become great art. The workmen were so surprised that we all wanted pieces that they brought three pieces to me with a bobcat and dump them in my tiny yard. That was 11 years ago. On the anvil is one of my favorite hammers made by @jessedanielbert. The next pic is my Green Lion sawframe. One of my best purchases ever @greenlionsawframe I’m a tool junkie so I could go on all day!
Day 6:// #marchmeetthemaker is Workspace..this is my little studio here at @bvstudiosbristol it's just right to keep all my art supplies, a stash of magazines, photography equipment and all my display stuff..its great because it's my space, I can make a mess with magazines and paint and I don't have to keep tidying away (as I used to at tea time!) and I can have it just how I want it..its also a great space for planning trade show displays and building furniture from Ikea (seen here!) I am lucky to be in a building of around 120 fellow creatives and it's lovely to have @bristolprintcollective across the way! We have the Open studios coming up on 21-22nd April so if you are Bristol based, come along and visit us!

#marchmeetthemaker#where Stockport is now my home and where I design and make my jewellery. I moved up here from Cardiff to attend uni in Manchester. Since graduating I have been based at @marketplacestudios alongside illustrators, fine artists, print designers, glass blowers, milliners, jewellery makers and performance artists. We hold regular exhibitions in our pop up shop and hold Open studios a couple of times a year.
Picture 2 is one of my favourite buildings, the restored art Deco beauty, Plaza theatre. Picture 3 is me making a mini bobble hat in the studio of @bronwensimpsonmillinery
Today's Meet the Maker word is 'where'. I work in Studio 13 @victoriaworksstudios in Chalford, Gloucestershire. I moved there 2 years ago when I out grew my blue garden shed. I love working in a building full of other creatives, we have a lovely mix of disciplines in the building, great company and very inspirational!
