As we ascend into the 21st century the idea of equality has again challenged society. We can't help but question it's social meaning and witness the struggles that still exist from equal rights and equal pay to freedoms of expression, religion and civil liberties. These are being called in to question on a global scale. This is your opportunity, as photographers and artists, to express your visual voice to communicate a powerful message and a call to action on the simple but provocative concept of EQUALITY.

Day 3 #marchmeetthemaker - how you started. Well, this is a long old yarn...Elizabeth graduated from UWIC in 2003 with a degree in Graphic Communication. Naturally she got a job in a call centre and stayed there for 11 miserable years. Throughout this time she tried to keep her hand in the art world, making cards for friends and running art classes in youth clubs. One day, her fairy godmotherlike sister told her about a PTLLS course running at the local community college. This was the basic qualification to teach adults and she aced it! Ha! Elizabeth started out teaching Art to mainstream adults but then an opportunity came along to teach adults with learning disabilities. She was a bit nervous as didn’t even know anyone with disabilities. But guess what, adults with learning disabilities are actual human beings! What a relief! And super fun was had by all. Fast-forward a few years and Elizabeth signed up to a course run by Welsh ICE, to help people start their own businesses. One of the sessions was about funding and she discovered there was such a thing as a social enterprise. A lightbulb pinged in her head and suddenly Elizabeth had a vision for the future! She was so excited she thought she may combust and several months later still feels the same. We are working with @business.wales to make a proper plan and have support from so many people. We can only succeed. Art is so important and adults with learning disabilities are so marginalised. Together we will make a difference.
