I was excited when I saw this #beautifulbeing because it was an elephant just walking down the street. But it's #sadeyes and large lumps on its body made me angry. I snuk this picture without the #mahoots seeing and demanding money. The money most likely goes to them and not the #Elephant at all. Maybe the elephant is treated ok as i dont want to assume not, and I was happy not to see any chains like I saw in Thailand but you could just tell the poor creature was depressed. I did consider how I would go about freeing her... paying the men off, providing them another income, transporting her to a reserve etcetc but had no idea were to start.
It all comes back to #education , from kindergarten to university, which was the theme of the #DaliLama 's talks here last week, about changing how people see the world.
Elephants in India are an expected staple of the country and it is embedded into tradition. Luckily in the north there are very few on forced parade and this is the first I have seen.
Elephants are incredible, emotive, fasinating beings and I would love to be able to help more directly, but the more active awareness the better.
