It seems I have to skip this kayaking season too but nothing stops me from being sentimental about the ones I took part in Finland before relocating myself!
This moment was quite magical. My kayaking club took part in an event loosely translated to "Finland goes kayaking" (Suomi Meloo). The year was 2015 and the event took us from Lappeenranta (Finland) to Vyborg (Russia) and finally to Helsinki (Finland). During the week the teams kayaked around the clock (at least one of the pairs were kayaking at a time and the rest were driving/sleeping in the caravan cars) excluding two nights when everybody took some rest.
That night me and my kayaking partner were on a duty. The weather was gloomy and windy and our part started late because of the broken rudder one of the pairs had to fix. I had slept badly so although we took a nice snack break on a land at the Svartholma sea fortress kayaking felt heavy. It was the early hours of the following morning when we finally reached our destination and departed from the group to find our car and join the sleeping team members. Just before our stop the sea got complitely calm and everything got quiet and suddenly the sun started rising. All I was able to do was to stare at the sunrise and take this photo. It was one of those moments one can't and don't want to forget. 👌👌 #suomimeloo2015#june#finland#loviisa#kayaks#kayakingclub#paddlingclub#melamajavat#seakayaking#paddling#kayakingevents#sunrise#sea#onceinalifetime#moment#memories#tb#travelgram#amazingnature
This Cyclamen coum is packed with seed pods, magically coiling down to the soil surface. Once ripened they will be distributed by ants, tempted by their sugary coating, or in this case, they'll be harvested by me.
