According to a report in the Seattle Times, in 2017 nearly 22,000 people were reported as homeless in Washington state, a 3.5% rise over the last year. Washington State’s average rent is $1,652. Food, water, and shelter should not be a luxury in our society. It is a necessity. A human right.
“We punish them by taking away their freedom but not taking away their life”. I think so many people here in the U.S. could benefit from this type of prison system. I just feel like here in America everything is taken away from you and your treated like an animal and locked up for excessive hours of the day... I feel like that can really drive one crazy and make them act in an animalistic nature... America could learn from this. Also, I feel as though this should exclude pedophiles, rapist, terrorist, and child molesters because they don’t deserve to have this.
Meat eater 《----》Vegan 🌱💪🏽 This is my 4 year transformation. From meat eater to a becoming vegan and eating a plant based diet. I could go on all day about the benefits I've gotten from it. Less inflammation, improved strength, less bloating and fatigue. Improved skin and so on. But what I will say is plant based nutrition and becoming vegan changed not only my body, but my whole life. ------------------------------------------

This week our Energy Explorers started building a mini electric vehicle. They were able to learn about the importance of innovation that is environmentally friendly. The kids discovered how it is possible to power vehicles without fossil fuels, and how critical it is to conserve energy for a brighter future so those who come after us will live comfortably too. You can join the Energy Explorers and do your part at home by making small changes that go a long way! Go to ladwp.com/rebatesandprograms to learn more about energy-efficient solutions that save both the environment and some money in your pocket!
I, Allana, have loved Jesse Williams since 2008 when I first saw him in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. I’m assuming you all know the scene. He was beautiful! 14 year old me was in absolute awe! As I continued to follow his career, I learned that there was and is a lot more to him than his physical beauty. He’s an activist and puts forth a lot of effort in educating people on why systemic change is necessary. He is passionate about education, representation, and the abolishment of societal and systemic injustice. He can also deliver a mean speech. What can I say? Jesse Williams is my #bae goals.
Very humbled to have participated in yesterday's Sunset beach yoga with the #hamburg based crew from @vivaconagua. And while the weather didn't cooperate as planned we made the absolute best of it. I teamed up with @dannieq and @lenavanleuvensteijn to create a combination of #meditation , #vinyasaflow and #kundalini yoga to warm up our chilly yogi's. The mixture of yoga styles is emblamtic of the mission of #vivaconagua : bringing people together across cultures, ethnicities, continents for the greater good (clean drinking water). Check out @vivaconaguacalifornia for other cool cross cultural events this week! It's the first #waterweek in #losangeles a social arts festival bringing people together through #art , #music and #sport .
Our goal is the cultural restitution of the nation, the social realization of its existence as a natural entity, and its political representation within a State apparatus. All these goals are integral to restoring sovereignty to the American nation, and assuring that the nation has a future it alone can dictate.

Oh my word. The supreme dreaminess of this moment. To open up @thetaosnews and see in its folds the annual #taoswoman magazine 2018 issue that this year features this gal!! Thank you so enormously to #thetaosnews , #taoswoman , Cindy Brown (writer), Katherine Egli (photos), and Rick Romancito (photos); this is a HUGE honor.
And wow, to all the amazing people I work with every single day, the people who keep me in check, the people who keep me motivated: thank you the most. Today I take a quiet step back and don't know how I got so darn lucky.
Ok but seriously friends, get your copy of Taos Woman asap! So many amazinggg trailblazers in this years' issue. It's so cool to share the pages with such an inspiring roster of creative pioneers.
Gratitude for these moments that push me to keep moving forward. Forward, yes, gently but surely, always.
I am trying to do what I came here to do (follow my soul's mission), but sometimes I'm unclear on what that is. Sometimes I don't know how to do it or where to start. And sometimes I allow fear to hold me back.
I am trying, every day, to cultivate the courage I need to step into my power. I am trying to develop the skills I need in order to create the life I dream for myself. I am trying to nurture connections with people who empower and inspire me. I am trying to be present with where I am on my journey, and to be grateful for each step, each moment, rather than wishing to be somewhere else. I am trying to be gentle with myself. •
I am doing all of this imperfectly, and I am doing my best to be okay with that. The more I talk to my friends, especially those who have recently graduated college, the more I find that we are all stumbling along on this path together. We are all trying to find the joy as we work through our challenges, but it is hard. Perhaps by sharing this journey with one another, we can at least feel a little less alone. And that's worth something. •
Because I believe in the transformative power of vulnerability, I am choosing to share my deepest fears and greatest challenges. We all deserve to be witnessed, to be seen in our wholeness. Therefore, it is my greatest hope that this grows into a community where magical folx can hold space for each other's healing and uplift, affirm, and empower one another.
Sending everyone love as the sun moves from Pisces into Aries, hopefully giving us a break from some intense emotions, and motivating us to take inspired action.

Read Tatyana’s story below. Did you know that in the US, 19% of transgenders become homeless after being fired for being gender non-conforming AND the same percentage has been denied an apartment for the same reason? This is just not human, we can do better. That’s why we’re starting a series of immersive workshops for individuals, brands and organizations in order to understand and be inclusive of gender non binary people in general in the workplace. Behold, the rise of the gender fluid generation will hit those who are not ready to play nice and kind.
Join our first workshop this Wednesday, at noon EST. Link and tickets in bio. Let us know if you’re an ally and want to deepen your knowledge, we will make room for you at no cost for this inaugural session. .

Martin: “What’s your name?"
Tatyana: “Tatyana. Yeah I recently turned back into Tatyana less than a month ago.”
M: “When did you know you were transgender?"
T: “When I was eighteen. I was a cross dresser first and then I liked the lifestyle and kept with it."
M: “Are you on the streets these days?"
T: “Off and on since I was thirteen.”
M: “Have you ever applied for government housing vouchers?”
T: “Mhm. I had my own apartment for three years in Bakersfield but drugs.”
M: “What did you get into?"
T: “Meth. It works. That’s the works."
M: “Do you still have parents somewhere?"
T: “No, no. My mom died when I was eighteen, that’s the reason why I became Tatyana mainly. My dad, I don’t know him, don’t care to.”
M: “She must’ve been young."
T: “Thirty-eight. Complications of AIDS."
M: “Oh man I’m sorry to hear that. Were you close?"
T: “No. Yes and no."

“ do your little bit of good where you are. It’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world” Desmond Tutu 🌍🇷🇼 Fallen in love with the South African concept of the ‘Ubuntu Philosophy’ 🌍
The ‘bigger picture’ is essentially creating a collage of individual and contrasting images that work inclusively to represent something bigger, your world. Essentially life is like a jigsaw puzzle, where each piece represents unique and meaningful factors that interlink and connect to one another in a constant network of emotions that link an individual’s values to their actions in parallel to their reactions. 🇷🇼🌍 ⬆️ Taken from my new blog post ( link in bio)
