More photo evidence that I can’t boulder without making a ridiculous face 🤪🤪🤪 Big thanks to my bouldering babe @mikemarcacci for the photo, @verticalhorizontals for the pro spot, and @mymoveisahealhook for fueling the day with 💣-ass 🥞
After sticking the crux I thought this climb was in the bag. Later I'd find out why it's rated PG-13. About ten feet later to be exact. There, at the bulging headwall about 15' feet off the deck the sandstone holds seem to disappear...The wall steepens just enough for the inevitability of muscle failure to creep in to your body as well as your mind. It's there. Right there where you must find harmony. Somewhere between chaos, control, breath, and panic. Where moments make eternities. That's the stuff to live for. // 🎥 Alex, @alexburlison .
35 | Thank you for all the birthday posts, texts, calls and hugs! Psyched to say that lately, every year has been better than the last. Here’s to another amazing year of climbing rocks, dancing in the desert, hollering on mountaintops, and laughing, loving and living with some of the best fucking people on this earth. 📷: @_drew_smith_ #flashfoxy#easternsierra#outdoorwomen#sheexplores
Nachos are extra tasty when your legs are tired from skiing. So are burgers. And cookies. And milkshakes. Really this post is about how much I like food after snowy days outside with friends :) #earnyourturns#uphillathletes
Today was our last day of climbing on Mt Lemmon, so we went and destroyed our fingers on the Beaver Wall. We would have worked this route more often but the holds leave our fingers nearly useless for a couple of days. The first two photos were from the last time we worked the route, which somehow was already 3 weeks ago. Today Ethan unlocked the crux which he previously thought might be impossible for his height, and I managed to do all the moves on lead with a few hangs.
After having the death flu for the whole month of January. I'm finally getting back to where I was. Been out running through all the kraft classics again for fitness. Cause you know, training is so hawt right now.

and then time stood still... We are on our way home after an amazing week in the bay area visiting family and old friends. On the way in, we stopped by this beautiful place and it did its thing so well. No luck on the firefall this year but Yosemite still delivered. Vast and mesermerizing, last light falls on the valley in the same way as I imagine it always has, and as it does again and again everywhere in the world. We as humans are the moving variables. I can only imagine what is was like to see this sight alone in the cold vs. standing alongside 300 other photographers you can't see. Still SUPER rad though. :) #livethelifeyoulovephotography#yosemitenationalpark#tunnelview#elcapitan#lastlight#hunterofthegoodlight#aurorahdr#skylum#thisisactually25photos
Work with what you've got. Among the clutter and chaos of my life I've still gotta keep moving forward. The conditions may not be ideal, but it'll make you Appreciate the littlest things. I made this little insta film while testing out my new phones camera. Pretty stoked on how it came out. •

Back in the swing of things 😏 this was steep and technical, with overhanging pillars and chandeliers
📷 and belay @melanie_lin but don’t worry, I hadn’t placed a screw yet at this point anyway 💁🏻♂️ #rulenumberone#nofalls
Sometimes I don't run big mountains and eat freeze-dried food and wear the same smelly clothes for sixteen days in a row, but when I do it's typically with this chica who cleans up real good and makes bad butt jokes too! 😎
🎉 @americanalpine in Boston last night - good fun!
Thanks so much to Parents That Rock member Lorna for sharing these awesome pictures with us from their recent trip to #joshuatree ! It may have been windy and cold but that didn’t stop them and son Abe from crushing a bunch of climbs!

@drunkenscallywag had a successful trip- way to get after it 💪👍" Three granite domes in two days, and one of the best sunsets I've ever seen. Welcome to southern Arizona." #REI1440Project#ClimbAZ#neverstopexploring
#AACDinner2018 totally incredible weekend. Amazing stories from the hallways, bar, back rooms, dinner table, and the stage. So appreciative to be part of this community. More images on FB hansflorineclimbs. @americanalpine
These two, sneaking in a climb and talking beta between sessions. 😍 #baysideboulderbash#climbing#bouldering#climberkids @clairelangmore @jimmykxox @baysiderock #parentsthatrock

Thanks so much for sharing this adorable picture of the next generation @chelswrites! It’s sooo fun watching out littles connect as much as we do and share in the fun of climbing together! I’ve totally seen my daughter give/get beta from others when they’re out playing while we climb!

Snowed in Red Rock and Joshua Tree, and cold everywhere else. Figured might as well give #iceclimbing a go. Made it out alive mostly because I had the right gear. Shout out to @amerikarl for letting me borrow his fancy boots, and @arcteryxlabrea - #alphasv held up real good! 📸 @jamesklapp and belay
@stephencoffer on probably some crazy hard climb at the Buttermilks. I didn't actually get the name of it but it's so overhung on these pretty tiny crimps! I love watching this dude climb - he's usually pretty static but can dyno like he has springs in his feet!⠀
My friend, @acuinu__, took this shot of me trying to snag the sit-start of Jocks and Geordies after sending the stand earlier. It was a fun and snowy day at Kyloe-in-the-Wood, be sure to check out my photo essay on @theprojectmagazine! Link in bio!
After doing Flakes of Wrath, hopped on the Direct to the left of the first pic and my .1 exploded the rock. Used to be a bolt at the crux, but now you got to make a move 15 feet above the pro. Bumped the nog a bit on the whip. PC: Franny Hickz #bringtwo75s
When the weather is tough, sometimes you just gotta make something happen and play outside. Here @aliah.connolly fights 30mph winds and #graupeltotheface . It’s all considered training right? @thewhitemountainschool climbers think so! @amga1979 #accreditedbusiness
Life is better with big #goals ! I'm still lingering on the couch officially this week after squeezing in a minor foot surgery within the coattails of my hip injury recovery... I head back to work though finally and I'm starting to see light at the end coming up! I'm actually sitting down at the kitchen table now and just finished writing out a list of top secret summer goals for 2018 significantly inspiring to me (nope only I get to see - except perhaps get hurt less seriously!). It scares me a little bit - every idea on this paper is seemingly big in it's own way but also very possible feeling - not too grandiose one at a time! There's something exciting about physically writing ideas down and looking forward to seeing what I can do (and lots of good excuses to be in the mountains!). *** This photo was from a moment like that - looking up the final gully on Mt Whitney last fall after coming from Badwater - on pace, but with less than an hour left (53 min) on the clock for the human powered Lowest to Highest record attempt and I wasn't sure if I could do it or not with pretty dead legs here! I crawled up the gully using all 4's however possible in the moment (do you really want this right now... let's find out?!) and finished with 13 minutes to spare in a final red zone sprint 🏃♂️ for the summit marker! #dohardthings @wheelscience @guenergylabs @podsox @themarcpro
Great turnout this year at #floattheboat ! Huge thanks as always to @seclimbers, @mellowchattanooga and all the sponsors for continuing the South's oldest climbing competition. If you haven't checked it out already, you're missing out!
Big thanks to all the guides that participated in the #25HRR .
This is Tomer. Have you ever taken a tour with Tomer? I bet it was just about the most fun you’ve ever had in the backcountry!
Ahhhhhh!!! I'm ready to come home. If you've been following my stories at all the last few weeks you know that I'm on an extended international work trip through Brazil, India & currently Singapore. They are nice trips, where I stay in hotels with hot showers and eat nice food that comes in small portion sizes on large plates, and go to meetings where I look professional and we have 'important' conversations.
That's one half of my life, but the other craves the backpack, the wandering, the inherent difficulties that come with traveling off the beaten path. And you know what folks? I'm ready. I'm ready for hard floors of a tent, the cutting straps of my haul bag and the cold shivers of the morning when you're putting your gear on, and that sweet ache in your fingers at the end of a long day #climbing outside. Because as much as I may enjoy the occasional fancy bath and $7 euro coffee, my tribe and what I need to live a fulfilled life, is elsewhere. 📸 Cred to @marcomunizaga who I haven't seen in too long and is off vandwelling the life I sometimes wish I still led #homeiswheretheheartis#valleylife#climbingtribe#californiadreamin#Nat_Explores
I met @n0mad.mu the day before heading up Orizaba. On the summit day, Nick got altitude sickness and had to turn around. @n0mad.mu and I teamed up. Here’s a shot of @n0mad.mu standing in front of the crater near the top of Orizaba. The summit of the mountain isn’t far out of frame. To the right, in the distance, you can see two other volcanoes.
