”Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do in order to have what you want.”
So... who are you, and what do you want? What do you enjoy doing in your freetime? Why not do a little more of that? Play, enjoy, have fun. Start from where you’re currently at, and do whatever it is that you like doing. Don’t think too much of it. Just... do.
I really liked this piece of art where we had lunch today. It reminded me of wanting to paint. Therefore, next, I will. 🎨🎨🎨
A hard topic, but here's something I realized in December last year:
(Just my own thoughts)
If you have a strong strive forward towards something (really anything) it's easy to get caught up.
Forgetting about everything else.
This has its own upsides but also a lot of backfires.
You may forget things that are actually more important.
Being too focused on getting straight A's in school, creating a career at work or building something on your own is far from a bad thing. But it can be.
It's easy to forget that those grades won't matter in the long run, and the pressure and stress you're creating at work, only makes you hate it and not enjoy it.
In a way you're trading happiness for achievement or progress.
The reason why I think this is a difficult topic, is because I find it very hard myself to sometimes know what to prioritize.
"If I work harder with the things I got going on, will I regret not relaxing in the future?"
"But If I relax more, will I regret this aswell?"
Obviously not easy questions to find the answers to, but here's the good thing:
You don't have to.
The thing I realized in December is the importance of taking full responsibility.
With this I mean the following:
If you don't work as hard, don't expect the same results.
If you work even more,
Don't expect to have time for much else.
Accepting however your current situation plays out, by realizing the end result is based on your own actions, no one else's.
It's understanding what makes you happy and working backwards from that.
