I'm officially back from my deload and coach @pvstrong_aep had me do the following:
5x3 squats. I worked up to 225x3x3 with high bar and with commands this time. Granted, I haven't hit this weight in triples since a month ago while on low bar so I was pretty stoked being able to hit it again. Definitely a rep PR for 3 sets. There's a few things I need to work on (stance width and core), but I think it's safe to say this will be my opener for the meet.
Bench was looking fine as hell tonight. I also worked up to 90x2x3 with commands. I need to remember not to rack right away until I hear the command to do so. Nonetheless, I'm excited that things are looking up for these lifts.
No triple sets from now until the meet. I did 3x8 on DB angled rows (45-55lb) and banded face pulls. I came in tonight with a lot of intensity towards these lifts and I can't wait to see how I do on deads in two days.

Well the initial excitement has come and gone and we are in the period between now and August that will let us all know if the Powerlifting world is ready for a change. The idea of big money meets is still in the forefront with the @kernusopen coming soon but that’s the only event of the year where lifters actually see a real reward for their efforts and performance. The Tribute has the potential to be a game changer IF and only if the community rallies around the idea. The idea of giving back without return. The idea of putting the sport before business. Maybe I’m not the right guy to raise awareness and funds. Maybe I’m not the guy to unite the masses but I still wholeheartedly believe this idea is solid. The idea of companies who profit from lifters, giving back to lifters....#thetribute still needs financial backing. We are at $27,000 of our $150,000 goal. Pioneer threw in $20k and will pay the meet fees and venue but the meet still needs donations and vendors to help pay the competitors travel expenses and prizes. Only time will tell!

Here is what having rhabdomyolysis does to the body. I have fought like hell to get my health back to 100%. You can see the reference ranges “normal ranges” at the top and my number at the bottom following by dates. This is just some of the major issues. I went in thinking I pulled a muscle and found out there was something serious going on and followed up with a kidney specialist. I was told to not train for an entire month and basically told him that wasn’t going to happen how about 2-3x a week with a lot less sets haha. So that’s what I did. It really blew my mind how much the kidneys impact the body. I thank god I was willing to bounce back without any major major medical attention.
So tonight I channeled my inner badass and pulled an ugly AF 365 off blocks. I have never held this much weight in my hands. Craziness right??!!! I have to say the past couple of months of strongman training has truly helped with my grip strength and my upper body. There’s still so much work to be done but days like today make me super stoked for April. I worked all the way up to a single and then worked my way back down. Even 315 was flying up. Thanks @jimmy_villan for letting me pick apart your brain a little bit. I think it’s amazing that in a SECOND you can change your mindset. Feeling down? Try saying out loud “Nope, I’m better than this” and do something that benefits you either physically, mentally, or spiritually. OR ALL THREE! Aye we all have our problems and demons, all of us are just trying to figure out life as best as we can. (If u don’t have problems lmao ok then whats ur secret) .
Find people who motivate you to be better and NEVER accept anything less. 🤘🏻 .
Look at the people in your life and ask yourself “do they add positivity to my life? Do they challenge me to grow? Do they want to see my succeed?” If not LIFE IS TOO DAMN SHORT, tell them to move out the way 👋🏻
495x5 @ RPE 7! @evanchaffey we’re making some fucking progress out here! This is close to a lifetime PR for me especially given the conditions! Cold as hell in the gym, everything felt shut off but I just zoned the fuck in and got hyped. Felt so easy I laughed on the 4th rep lol.
I decided to go back to my more “hip dominant” style squat which is honestly just the way I should squat. I felt more healthy and strong today than I have in months and I’m still 14 weeks out! The last months I’ve been thinking “knees forward and out while sitting down”. Today I went back to just “knees out and sit down”. Crazy what cueing can do for you. To put this into perspective, last week 455 felt harder and hurt my knees way more.
