One final push before the first races of the season. That called for the first track session of the year, and in brand new Asics DS trainers to make sure the pace was rich. Next stop is Gran Canaria 💪🏼 🇪🇸

It’s been an entire week without running 😳 which means I missed #tracktuesday yesterday (aka best run of the week) so I thought I’d share some throwTRACK (haha get it? like throwback?!) pics of me way overstriding through a 1500 race.
I still miss training for weekly races and running with the most amazing teammates every day BUT at the same time, I know that missing a week of training due to sickness used to be a million times more stressful than it is for me now. I’m the type of person that if I possibly run - I will! But these past few days, I know there is no way I can run if I’m barely making it through each workday as it is. “Listen to your body” is the name of the game these days and that’s what I’m trying my best to do! 🙏🏼 Here’s hoping I’ll be back running in the sunshine (or winter temps we’re still experiencing) by the end of the week. Cheers to all of you still running all the miles, you’re killing it!
Has anyone ever successfully timed track intervals with an #AppleWatch without complete and utter frustration that left you cursing out loud? If so, teach me your ways! 😫🤬
Either my dog ate or my toddler threw away/lost my beloved Garmin a few weeks ago, so my husband “surprised me” with the new Apple Watch as its replacement. Cool watch, but so much harder to stop and go and use on the move than my Garmin. It worked pretty well for my long run on Sunday, when I didn’t need to know precise splits and stop and go frequently.
In my workout today, every single rep, I would raise my wrist to wake the screen and then tap start as I took off and every.single.time. I would have to turn around and start over bc the screen didn’t respond to my taps. On average, I had to restart each rep probably 3 times before I managed to get the stop watch going as I took off from the line. What a pain! It was also hard to see my splits and pace while passing through the 200.
I installed Runmeter app and also tried just the stopwatch. Anyone have tips? Or do I need to bring an old school Timex to the track next week?
On the bright side, it was a beautiful spring day to be outside running hard! Week 2 #tracktuesday in the books 😅💪🏽
Yesterday was our favorite day of the week... #TrackTuesday !! (A day late here, because I fell asleep in the recliner immediately after dinner last night.) All the laps and all the 800s! (I see you, LP @nebraskarunner!! #trackbuddies ) 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ And I tried to come up with something clever to say post-track, but really I was more concerned about the “Wild America Hawk-eating-Blue-Jay show” happening in the side of straightaway... Birds, man. 😳🐥 #heartandhustle#lane8#workthecurve
Female friendships are funny. It’s really easy to be catty and competitive with your female peers. All of us have been there 🙋🏼♀️. But when we choose to support & encourage, to lift other women up, rather than tearing them down... well, that’s when female friendships become pure magic.
Well, that nighttime speed session was eventful. 🤔
The Bad: I fell. AGAIN. Thankfully on my warmdown at the end and not during warmup or speed. And I hit the exact.same.spot on my knee. Tripped on uneven pavement in the dark and beginning to pair this with my whole right foot/leg thing. 😵😝
Also, my stomach was funky all afternoon and was not comfortable during this workout, I still have some foot pain (hey it doesn’t get better overnight), and I seem to be dehydrated no matter how much water and electrolytes I down on a daily basis lately. 🤨
The Good: I was protected by both cropped pants and bandaids on my knee from the previous fall on this fall, veered toward the grass for the brunt, and I didn’t damage the @runinrabbit Conejo crops! 🙌
Also, stomach and foot and late hour be damned, I not only got out there and got it done, but I hit every.single.split at or better than my intended pace for it of my 2x(1600 @HMP, 800 @10K), 4x400, all minimal active rest workout and without feeling like I was anywhere near my max. 💃🏃♀️💃
And then I annihilated the chocolate chip banana bread the amazing @heather.p8787 brought me today. 😍
Take THAT, Tuesday. 💪
(But also, how is it only Tuesday? 😳)
During today’s workout and all this week I’ve been thinking about commitment and what it truly means to be committed. Distance running is hard, and it takes a ton of commitment to reach your goals and get to where you want to be. There’s days where it starts to rain and you have to be just as committed as you would be any other day. Sometimes this is a lot like life. Are we committed to our relationships? Are we committed to our jobs? Are we committed in our church callings and our religion? When the rain comes and the wind beats against you, you have to stay committed! Sometimes you have to face the storm head on! •

Track Tuesday ! My ladies. Today was difficult and I couldn't have done it alone! It was so windy out there but we got it done! I love the days that we can all work together. So so grateful for such an amazing training group I can't say it enough. Last hard effort before race day. This workout gave me confidence for my race. ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪1.25 mile warm-up and then 3 x 1 Mile repeates. My miles were : 6:00, 5:57, 5:55. 800m jog between the miles and little extra rest after that first one. then a 2.5 mile cooldown. 7.75 miles for the day.

The weather didn't get in the way of the miles this week!👐 Big ups to daylight savings time for the extra light we were provided at the start of the workout. Warmer days will soon be here!
Tonight's workout was quick and efficient. (Just what I needed to catch Craig David's concert... even though I missed my two favorite songs in the beginning😣) Great work tonight, team!
I take this tunnel every week to get to my track workout. It used to terrify me because it’s dark, there is street art everywhere and there are not a lot of people around. Now, it exhilarates me because it’s beautiful and literally a path to one of my happy places and my #runnershigh .
Me looking at some photos I took after my awesome speed workout:
Me: Yikes!! That's an incredibly unflattering angle, I'll post a different shot.
Also me : Nope, my legs look like that! They just carried me through an awesome workout. They don't need to be filtered or cropped out. We're good! 🙌🏻 .
To be honest, I don't often put all that much worry or thought into the pictures i post anymore. I try to push myself to share the angles that I think are unflattering, because the more I do - the less they bother me! And the more we all share, the more we realize what reality looks like. .
A few years ago (before I started running!) was a TOTALLY different story! I over analyzed photos, was never happy with what I saw in the mirror, and felt super uncomfortable in my own skin. I didn't care as much if I was "healthy" as long as I was "thin". Healthy was just the means to get there. But the funny thing is - I was never satisfied until I started focusing on something other than "the look"!
Running has given me so much more than a means to a look. It's given me FREEDOM! I can honestly say I am so comfortable in my body now, and proud of what it can do. I haven't always been good to it over the years, but it keeps showing up for me. No more obsessing over what it looks like, no more cringing at photos, just lots of love for its strength ❤️
Track night was a success! 12x400m repeats with 200m jog recoveries in between. Even though I hit all my paces, I am 100% DONE with this cold weather, it’s only during the winter that I ever truly miss Texas 😭.
Smiling because I’m glad that’s over!😝2 miles up, 10x800 with 400 recovery, c/d to 11 miles.🏃🏻♀️I wanted to quit after 5 of them🙈but, kept pushing though! Your body can do it, it’s your mind you have to convince!
The different stages of a single-leg deadlift...it can be challenging to perfect the form of this move, but when you do, the results are big 💪 Wanna come see what our DC Tuesday Intervals + Core practices are all about? Next Tuesday, 3/20, is an open practice - come meet other runners, see what our practices are like, and have some fun 🌟 Oh, did I mention HH afterwards as well? 😉 6:30pm. 3/20. Cardozo SHS track. Grab a friend and see you there! 🏃♀️🏃🏽♂️ #rundc#tracktuesday
It's Tuesday which means I hit the track today for some hard efforts. It's important to remember that every workout has a purpose and everyday is part of a long term plan. ..........
Today's workout consisted of a long warm up, then10x2:30 moderate right into :30 hard with a nice cool down at the end. Could not have been happier with how well the main set went paces were 7:45, 7:27, 7:27, 7:20. Coming back from a running injury is not joke. It's been a long time since I have seen these paces and they felt good! ..........
Patience and consistency works wonders. 😀
