Now that the 15-month innovation is complete there will be some changes to the Cardiologist’s Kitchen website. Before that happens, let’s go right back to basics and look at the focus of our project - high blood pressure. .
If you have concerns about hypertension, you need to know how to measure your blood pressure.
If you have access to a BP monitor, we would recommend you start off with a week long diary to establish and familiarise yourself with your own blood pressure. Thereafter, a maximum of twice weekly (do not obsess) and eventually less frequently, depending on the stability of your readings. To find out how to measure correctly, type HOW TO into our website search box.
You will also find a link to another article which explains what the blood pressure readings mean, useful if you can remember what your GP or Practice Nurse told you it was ... next time ask them to write it down for you. 😉
High blood pressure. As I said in my previous post, this is the more dangerous of the two. High BP usually has no symptoms but may lead to migraines, blurred vision, dizziness and shortness of breath. Lowering salt intake to 2300mg a day and cutting out caffeine is helpful for lowering blood pressure. Supplements such as L-arginine and hawthorn are also beneficial. Lastly, diuretics decrease the volume of fluid in the body and help to alleviate the pressure placed on the circulatory system. Good examples include plain old water, buchu and parsley.
I had to delete original post with my address in it
I don’t think I have to stress how important it is to keep an eye on your blood pressure. I think that anyone that uses PED‘s or even takes natural supplements and lives a bodybuilding lifestyle or probably more importantly has genetic component of a family history of high blood pressure should check their blood pressure often. So a few weeks ago I was prescribed The pharmaceutical drug Atenolol “for my elevated blood pressure. I purchased but NEVER used it! Instead I was able to bring my blood pressure down to normal range simply by making dietary changes nothing activity level and taking natural supplements. So I was able to avoid taking this harmful drug. Next time you’re at the doctor and they try to prescribe you some medication I highly encourage you to research what they’re asking you to take and if it’s absolutely necessary or if you can avoid by simply making lifestyle changes and maybe tossing in a few natural remedies and supplements. I was always prescribed statin for high cholesterol, which I also didn’t use to improve my HDL/LDL I increased healthy fats avoid bad fats increased fiber and almost trying to eat foods that are anti-inflammatory anti-inflammatory. 🤔🤔Hmmmm so I just saw an ad today for something that was called....“The Ultimate Shape and Booty Kit”
Do you want to know what it came with?
🤨 “Skinny juice”
🤨 “Body wrap”
🤨 “Diet patch”
😳 “Core” gel ?????- can I get a big WTF
I am speechless. Even more speechless because I USED to be that person who would have bought that “THINKING” it will work. Quick fix PLEASE. Yes that old me would have TOTALLY wasted 💰💰💰 on that 💩
Seriously Cindy…thank goodness I’ve smartened up. I was in the the absolute WORST shape of my life both medically and physically EVER thanks to those FAD diets.😫😫
Skinny juice? “CORE” gel - like REALLY? A “gel” that will give you abs??! Yeah cause that’s realistic.
There are NO wraps, gels or juices that can give you the body you want. NONE. These are called FADS and fads are just that. .
I KNOW it is not anyone’s first choice to exercise, to eat proper nutrition. WHY? Because it takes a little extra effort. .
But those FADS, they DON’T….
💪 Decrease your cholesterol
💪 Decrease your high blood pressure
💪 Decrease inflammation
💪 Protect your bones
Remember everyone - your BODY is your TEMPLE. It deserves the BEST of the best. Treat it with the UTMOST respect it deserves. Ask yourself what is in that stuff? Definitely things our bodies are NOT meant to absorb. .
March 5 group is soon to open up - let’s stop the fad movement and do what is good for your body. Link in bio to get more information or message me 💕
❗❗Update and seriously shocked.
I have errr ummm, had hypertension and took meds daily.
This is my BP with only the CBD oil since last week!
I would run about 136-142 (systolic) over 88-94 (diastolic) when I forgot to even take the meds.
Overall, I fell better but still adjusting to it.
That blood pressure alone is unreal ➡️hempmommav.com
Flashback to the fall before my wedding. The time I was in the best shape of my life. The time before having to go on blood pressure medication, which makes me retain weight. I miss that body. I’ll probably never look like that again. But, I’m learning to be okay with that. I’m still going to do cool shit with this body regardless. #fitness#foodisfuel#hearthealth#hypertension#highbloodpressure#halfmarathontraining
Did you know the defining numbers to mark high blood pressure changed from 140/90 to 130/80 recently. To learn more about this health issue and ways you can change your diet and lifestyle check out our newest SOULFUL Insight, Preventing Hypertension Before it Surprises You, by Christina Badaracco, MPH. This post is available through the link in bio and at soulfoodsalon.com. People with high blood pressure are at an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. The ratio of dietary sodium to potassium is more closely associated with blood pressure in adults with hypertension than either electrolyte alone. Incorporate more potassium rich foods in your diet daily. Also:
- Aim to limit packaged foods and make at least one more meal at home each week. This can be easier if you get in the habit of batch-cooking vegetables, whole grains, beans and meats over the weekend to throw together quick lunches and dinners during the week.
- Explore new spice, herb and vinegar combinations in your cooking to see how you can maintain flavor while cutting down on the need for salt. A few recommendations include balsamic vinegar and rosemary, lemon juice and oregano, and cider vinegar and cumin.
- For adults who wish to consume alcohol, women should have up to one drink per day and men up to two per day.
- Aim to maintain a healthy body weight, perhaps through losing a few pounds by increasing activity and moderating portion sizes. Accumulating multiple short bouts of activity by taking the stairs, walking instead of driving or doing yard work can be great ways to fit in physical activity on a busy day.
