Group Therapy (+Yoga): Disordered Eating and Body Image
This two-hour intervention begins with mindful movement, breath practices, and meditation, followed by psychoeducation and group processing. The combination of group psychotherapy and yoga allows participants to invite the power of the physical body into treatment, and to create an environment of openness and awareness for connection with others. More details available at http://bit.ly/2tLIibS .
Tuesdays, 6 - 8 pm
May 1 - June 5
The phrase #disorderedeating refers to a wide range of eating behaviors that cause distress. Such behaviors capture an unhealthy relationship with food including binge and emotional eating, or restrictive eating, but may not constitute a formal eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. In fact, this group is not appropriate for individuals actively experiencing a true eating disorder; rather, this group would be more appropriate for such individuals as an aftercare activity, after completing a specific eating disorder treatment regimen.
#bodyimage then is the perception of how you view your body ... but may not accurately reflect how your body is viewed by others. This group is appropriate for individuals who dislike their body, are 'uncomfortable in their own skin,' and who desire to love and appreciate their body exactly as it is.
Groups will be capped at 10 participants. Participants will be pre-screened before admittance to the group.
This intervention will take place at Clear Conscious Movement (2550 Woodburn Ave., Cincinnati, 45206). Please contact Dr. Julia King directly - at 513.277.0408 or at email@example.com - for more information or to schedule a pre-screening appointment.
