I just had a great meal at Sanders’ Down Home BBQ and Soul Food. Great food and service! Mr. Steve and the Sanders Family will make you feel right at home. Located in the Vesta Community (Oglethorpe County) between Lexington and Elberton. #classicgeorgia

If you ever see a roadside grocery store in the South, you should definitely stop. There will most likely be peanuts and probably homemade pie 🤗 The Sunrise Grocery was a most welcome sight during our North Georgia exploits. A big group of cyclists from Chicago and Cincinnati stopped in the same day we did and were absolutely giddy with all of the homemade jerky and pecan pie available. They were a little weary of the steaming kettle outside full of peanuts despite local assurances. I knew I should've gotten an extra bag for the road home today. Have you ever had boiled peanuts 🥜 ? #theusiscooltoo#exploregeorgia
We have some explaining to do... 🤭🤗 I can’t believe that it has been an entire month since we have posted!! I was definitely over confident back in January about how easy it would be to keep up with a writing and posting schedule! I under estimated how busy and difficult this school semester would be as a student teacher! Between the lesson plans, parent conferences, meetings, instructional time, and more it gets overwhelming. And that’s just the teacher part! The student part adds on papers, research projects, and portfolios! So I quickly felt like I was drowning in all things school related! 🌲
But I can’t blame everything on a busy school schedule. I Definitely got burnt out and lost motivation to make posts. After I thought long and hard about why this happened, I think I’ve narrowed it down to one simple thing: I got caught up in the “rules” of social media and blogging, that I wasn’t 100% passionate about everything we were posting. When we decided to create our blog, I naturally went to Pinterest for all the things blog related, and even took a couple of e-courses.
The very first tip in all of these courses is to choose your genre and stick to it. So our genre was hiking/camping. Now don’t get me wrong, we LOVE hiking and camping (we are currently planning our AT trip, but more on that to come later). But our page is called “The Cauble Life”. There is so much more to the Cauble Life than just hiking and camping. And I felt discouraged that I “couldn’t” share certain things because it wasn’t related to hiking or camping. Our motto is: “the pursuit is happiness”, and the fact of the matter is that there are way more things that bring us joy than just what we have shared so far! 🌲
With all of that being said, I want to say that we are back! We are back to share happiness and spread joy! We are back to share our experiences, tips and overall how we achieve our dreams in life! But we want to share all of the things that make us happy and bring us joy, not just a small piece of it! 🌲
So tell us, what are some of the things that bring you the most joy?
I am beyond excited to have matched into my first residency choice: Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta! Kyle will also be in Augusta for residency and we cannot believe how amazing it is that we pulled of the Army/Civilian Match and will be able to be together to start our marriage!!! Huge thank you to both of our families and our friends for all of your love, prayers, and support. And to celebrate, we ran a half marathon this morning. #13 .1 #Dr .Ehlers #tinyhumans#thewaitisover#georgiaonmymind#almostmarried
