One of my very favorite practices and daily intentions is to L I S T EN, to always listen so very intently because you never know when you will have the chance to learn something new.
My teacher always teaches us to listen to the sublties of life, that yoga happens when we are not paying attention, that we would be better of walking around this planet as if we were never graduating students eager to learn everything we possibly can about this life and this experience & to always remeber that we know alot less then we think we do.
Instead of being closed to new ideas we try to open up to new ideas we often automatically think our ideas are right & others must therefore be wrong before even considering why, or what is making us think in this particular way. Yoga teaches us to instead of closing with I already am a master of that I have nothing new to learn, it teaches us to open up more profoundly, to learning new ways of seeing and understand the world, new ways in cleaning off the lens in which we view the world & all others in it.
My dear friend @lyricmonty said yesterday as I over heard her that in India yoga is not lovey dovey delivered like a sweet unjagged knife as it is typically delivered here in the West but instead she said Yoga in the east is discipline.
Yoga is discipline.
This is now one of my new favorite one word definitions of yoga. Yoga is discipline. A daily, a life-ly, a moment to moment-ly discipline, because this is exactly what yoga is. Yoga is a discipline in thoughts, behaviors, habits, a moment to moment assesment in where we are and where we would like to go, & a discipline I believe more of us could probably commit stronger to.
The yogis believed that a day without practice is a day of cleaning your slate of all the progress you have ever made taking you back to ground zero to start again.
Yoga is a daily practice w-the benefits & effects slowly building day after day.
Ignite your discipline, find your local yoga plug in & start to climb that ladder of self transformation, because the evolution of you into the best version of you is the most important thing you could possibly do with your time for the world .
