Acaraje & vatapa; falafel in curry. This curry had me asking for more and licking them off bowls. Nouri means “my light” in Arabic, and “my fire” in Aramaic. And they’re right. This dish definitely sparked a flame. I loved the use of middle eastern flavors in fine dining. This is no basic ass bitch kinda joint and that set us on fucken fire 🔥. Cos really, who needs another boiled lobster topped with caviar or truffle or old French chef jizz. Not this slut. #makanslut
I’m not gonna lie, eating #vegan in NOLA was pretty rough. Thank goodness for falafel and hummus 😂 Me and @nick_boyer found this hole in the wall and we were mighty impressed by the food here. The dressing is not vegan, but they gave me a cup of olive oil and vinegar which worked just fine 👌
My husband always likes to throw some curve balls at me. Like the last time I made falafel and substituted onion for fresh fennel...I ended up finding out he was allergic to it. If anything it always keeps me on my toes and makes me think outside the box. 🤔So because of this predicament I ended up coming up with a new recipe for Parsnip Walnut Falafels. And they were 💯💯💯
Baked Parsnip Walnut Falafel
1 15oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup cilantro
1/4 cup parsley
2 sprigs dill
1/4 cup walnuts
1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger
1/2 parsnips, roughly chopped
3 tbsp quick oats
1 tbsp garlic, minced
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt (adjust for your taste buds)🌱
In a food processor, add walnuts, ginger, parsnips, dill, cilantro and parsley and pulse about 10 times or until ingredients appear minced. Add in chickpeas (make sure they are not super wet, try to pat dry with a towel a bit before adding them in), baking powder, garlic, flour, and salt. Begin pulsing mixture again, scraping down sides as needed until mixture is well combined. The end result should look like a crumbly dough. Scoop a heaping tablespoon of the mixture into your hand and begin to mold into a ball. Flatten the mixture to form a thick disk and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper (can opt for air fryer). Place in preheated oven (400F) and bake for a total of 20-25 minutes, flipping Falafel after 15 minutes to bake on the other side. If using the air fryer, place Falafel in the basket and cook at 370F for about 12-13 minutes or until crisp and slightly golden. Makes about 12 falafels. 🥙
It's almost our 18th birthday and we are proud to say we still make our hummus from scratch daily. Organic Chickpeas blended with the freshest and purest ingredients. No preservatives. #Vegan .
While I’d encourage Central Market to tweak their falafel towards a little texture, and I think I’d ask to swap their more traditional tzadtziki for the curried mayo that came on this entree, I have to offer kudos to their menu (and the crispy ribbons of cucumber— I ❤️!) — so many healthy options to try. That Power Greens side salad was fresh and nutrient dense (they were out of my favorite lemony garlic dressing the name of which escapes me but the taste memory, not), and I appreciate the number of iced teas available; that Peppermint Green Tea is gentle on my tummy. Has anyone had the Miso Bowls?
