From @_jessicabates / I have enjoyed sharing with you through these squares. I have been writing morning pages & affirmations for several months, and the clarity & introspection they’ve brought me has been transformative. I have gotten better at things that make me squirm — dishes, laundry, making food. I have been happier, more sexual, more intentional with my time. It’s easy to be seduced by beautifully crafted photos; it’s easy to compare yourself to others here on IG and feel less than. But that’s a trap. I wish you all peace, release, healing, & hope. I wish you all the freedom to say YES and the freedom to say NO. Be yourself, trust yourself, & love yourself to the bone. 🖤 Cheers to all the mothers out there living free of the bullshit. I see you, badass women. Together, we rise. xx 😚 @_jessicabates //
On March 18th 2014, Chinese, Disabled, Loved One, Errol Chang, was experiencing a psychotic break, he was in a mental health crisis and needed help, he needed de-escalating. Instead of helping, Errol was brutally killed by the Pacifica poLice and the Daly City SWAT Team, just moments after he attempted to surrender. Militarized poLice brought in a SWAT TEAM!!!! His hands were held above his head out the front window of his father's home. He was killed in front of his family members.
A year after Errol’s wrongful death, his family hosted a sweet, sad, and healing community gathering at the site of his death (the house has since been sold). There was hot chocolate and a candelight vigil planned at dusk. I attended the vigil with my friend Bonita and there were many people there who had also lost their Loved One to poLice terror. Many people connected and We collectively grieved. Perhaps as (you) are grieving now.
Today i chalked the name of #errolchang in a yellow heart in front of my home. i put some #daffodils and #dandelions there.
ERROL CHANG SHOULD BE ALIVE
I will not stop saying your name, and holding you in my heart.
You are loved and missed!
We will not forget!
REST IN POWER ERROL CHANG!!!! sending love to the family and friends of Errol Chang. Sending love to those that fight for Justice and Collectively grieve in Errol’s name and memory.
JUSTICE FOR ERROL CHANG #lovedone#killedbypolice#endpoliceterror#disabilityjustice#madloveforerrolchang
Example of "programmed" or conditioned thinking, and how we so easily judge (from putting words on things) and attach judgement/attachment to that word. Example word: W E E D S (in Swedish "ogräs"). It associates negatively (for many), and is deemed by the mind as 'not important', perhaps even a nuisance... •
I grow up being conditioned to believing dandelion was ogräs, or non-grass. (the 'o' in the swedish language, turns a word into its non-or opposite. Much like the letter A in Sanskrit) The common mentality lingers in most people, that dandelions are a 'weed', and weeds are useless and unworthy. Tear them out, get rid off them.☠️ •
Meanwhile, nature has designed for this pretty yellow flower (yes pretty, not ugly! Think about it, why would 'other flowers be pretty, but dandelion be "ugly"? Conditioned thinking and negative associations with the word!) to arrive when it arrives, 🌼🌼🌼🌼F O R I T' S R E A S O N S 🌼🌼🌼🌼
To expand on what it's used are mentioned on the picture; dandelion is a medicine. That's right, nature provides for us, her medicines 😅 #whodathunk
Dandelion works to detox plasma and blood, through clearing and cleansing the liver and gallbladder, dispelling bile (pitta) and toxins (ama). A body that's been overfeed a fatty or meat diet, consumed a lot of alcohol, and people who suffer from allergies, may all benefit from this M E D I C I N E. 💛🙏🏽💛 •
Can we as a culture learn to re-associate dandelion with a plant medicine, and stop making disgruntled faces when we think of them? Medicine and pretty yellow flowers in your lawn and yard- not 'ugly weeds' that you need to start a war against.... Make dandelion tea, not war. ☕️ 🐝 🌱💚
It's that time again!! All those little fluffy sunshiny heads in your yard are powerhouses!! Dandelion infused oil is made with dandelion flowers which are rich in flavonoids and polyphenols known for their skin healing, pain relieving, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Dandelion is a rich source of vitamins A, B complex, C, and D, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium, and zinc. Dandelion salve is ah-mazing! I've been picking little flowers to be infused and in a few days, SGS will have salve ready for those chapped hands and achy muscles! This year, I'll offer both the original and one with added essential oils to really boost those pain relieving powers. I love using natural ingredients with healing properties 💛
Make a #wish and blow on a #dandelion ! Took this picture a while ago at the #Conranshop in #London . The #flower was preserved in glass.
Rumor has it that dandelion seeds will carry your thoughts and #dreams to loved ones when you blow them into the air. I love this thought! Others believe that #dandelions may be able to tell you if you're loved; if you can blow all the seeds off a dandelion with a single breath, then the person you love will #love you back. If seeds remain, then the object of your affection may have reservations about their feelings toward you. Not too hopeful with my smoker lungs... 😬
Little spots of yellow now
Dot the grass growing green...
Not the pricey planted variety
But marks of spring-wild and free. 🍃
The sort sometimes overlooked
Just dandelions all over the yard
Picked mostly by sweet little hands
Given to another with highest regard.
Just pesky "weeds" in the sight of some,
Yet they are flowers God made so bright
Dandelions come each year for spring
With a smile when the first one is in sight! -JL
We’ve been hearing a lot about these little guys lately. Mostly, about how to get rid of them. So we thought of sharing a bit about dandelions:
🐝 The bees need the dandelions as an early source of nectar and pollen, when other plants are still hitting the snooze button.
🥒 Some of these same bees and other pollinators will be pollinating our tomatoes and cucumbers in the coming months. Dandelions encourage them to stay in the area.
🌱Dandelions are good for your lawn. Their wide-spreading roots loosen hard-packed soil, aerate the earth and help reduce erosion. And who doesn’t need that in our Texas clay?
⭐️The deep taproot pulls nutrients such as calcium from deep in the soil and makes them available to other plants. Dandelions actually fertilize the grass.
🚑Dandelions are nutritious and are a green and growing first aide kit.
✨Plus, their seeds are a bucket of fun. Who can resist sending those little guys floating into the air?
Dandelions are so good at survival, they’ll probably never be eradicated, but we can learn to be more at ease with dandelions - and other wild things – and maybe even learn to love them a little. ❤️
They were very proud of this addition to the mud pie kitchen stuff. My little garden structure was falling apart and my daughter told her brother what she could picture it as and then he fixed it up/built it for her and proudly said "yep, I'm like my dad." #siblings#mudpies and #dandelions
