Chocolate protein pudding topped with orange zest and heaps of blueberries. 🙌🏻 okay. I had this idea of orange zest on pudding, and I didn’t realize how good it was going to be. 🤤🤤 don’t mind me while I eat the whole thing, bye. ;) HAPPY FRIDAY! .
Chocolate protein pudding:
1 1/2 ripe avocado
1 @nuzest_usa chocolate packet
2 TBSP of raw cacao
2 TBSP of orange zest
1-2 TBSP of maple, date sugar, or manuka honey
Cinnamon & pink salt
BLEND and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Top it off with fresh blueberries, orange zest, and cocoa nibs!

With summer (almost) around the corner, you are most likely overwhelmed with info about the new detox diet or cleanse that promises to get rid of all those nasty toxins in your body and in the process, help you lose weight.
It is true that our world is full of “toxins” i.e. environmental compounds not naturally present in our body (pollution, pesticides, etc.) and we ingest these on a daily basis. However, luckily for us, we don’t need to go on some restrictive diet or purchase an expensive, detoxifying supplement - we have our own internal detox system that does the job just fine! Our kidneys, liver, lungs, skin and digestive system all work for us on a daily basis to get rid of any compounds that our body doesn't need. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is good news, especially since no evidence currently exists to support the benefits of detox diets. Weight loss may occur, but only because of the low calorie nature of these diets, which are often lacking in essential nutrients as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Interestingly, there IS emerging (but limited) research on certain foods and compounds that may enhance our body’s natural detoxification process. For example, turmeric/curcumin, B vitamins and the phytochemicals found in cruciferous vegetables have been shown to facilitate, or speed up, our body’s ability to get rid of toxins. However, this area of research is still in its infancy, and we don’t know if there are actually dietary patterns people can follow to improve their internal detox processes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The bottom line? Forego the expensive supplement, cleanse or detox diet, and concentrate on fueling your body with a well-balanced diet to support the impressive detox system you already have! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
