Woman No. 17 is full of art, artistic thinking, and plenty of line crossing. Lady has no idea what she’s set in motion when she places an ad to hire a live-in “sitter” for her 3 year old son. Esther, just out of college, has no idea what her role will be when she answers it but she’s not even going to the interview as herself so things are already a little murky. Throw in Lady’s 18 year old son from a previous relationship that has been electively mute his entire life, in addition to his swarthy absentee father, and you’ve got a hot mess express of a good read. If you’ve ever been completely unable to get out of your own way or couldn’t find that way in the first place, you’ll love both of these women. This account is a true to life take on everyone’s relationship with their mother and the alternating chapters help represent the glaring similarities and minute differences in our perspectives. #womanno17#edanlepucki#fiction#artist#bookstagram#booksofinstagram#thatswhatsheread#mommyissues#california#asl#talkwiththehands#poloroid#humpday 🐫 #wednesday#family#itscomplicated
@adammichaels_ has never let being Deaf stop him. Through his differences and challenges, he was able to find his strength and use it to give back to his community at the Lexington School for the Deaf. Never be afraid to be your true authentic self. #SheaMoistureMen
One of my best friends growing up has a brother with Down Syndrome. He has always been so funny and disarming in his compassion towards me, especially through the drama of the high school years when I didn’t know if I’d survive 😏 He would always encourage me with smiles and assurances that everything would be alright. In his honor, and in honor of my dear friend @tesneydavis (T-Squeezie as I like to call her) I want to ask everyone who sees this post today to donate $21 for #worlddownsyndromeday (3.21 because of the third copy of the 21st chromosome carried by those with Down Syndrome) Read below for WHY THIS MATTERS! (Link to donate in my profile)

I set out to raise $3,000 to allow students with Down syndrome the opportunity to go to college by World Down Syndrome Day. I got a little sad today thinking about how I was failing if I didn’t somehow reach this goal. But I know that isn’t the case! We still have THREE DAYS and we can still do this TOGETHER! So I’m asking you, my friends, to please donate $21 to @rubysrainbow using the link in my profile. Our goal as a committee is to raise $150K total which will give OVER THIRTY amazing people rockin’ and extra chromosome the chance to attend college. This is SO IMPORTANT to not only our kids, but for the world. You guys, our kids...ALL OF OUR KIDS...they all deserve the same things. They learn from each other. They’re better together. So please please please help me reach my individual fundraising goal of $3000 by Wednesday. It’s what most of us spend on a bag of dog treats, four grande lattes from Starbucks, or a couple of meals at Chick Fil A. Thank you in advance for your generosity! I hope we can share a video of us presenting an acceptance letter to a deserving scholarship recipient in KIRILL’S honor!
P.S. Follow @rubysrainbow for more amazing stories of scholarship recipients!
P.S.S. Shout out to @target @target_1787 @targetstyle for the awesome #asl#together shirt by #catandjack !!! We ❤️ it!

We are saddened and outraged to know that the House of Representatives has voted to pass the #ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017, also known as HR 620, by a 225-192 margin, as reported by @aclu_nationwide. We are here to say that disability rights are civil rights and that we refuse to be silenced. 📣
