More than a million benefits sanctions imposed on disabled people since 2010 - @guardian "Polly Mackenzie, director of Demos, said it was now clear that the benefits system isn’t working for disabled people: “Conditionality is important in any benefits system, but when disabled people are so much more likely to be sanctioned, something is going wrong. Jobcentre advisers and capability assessors too often have a culture of disbelief about disability, especially mental illness, that leads them to sanction claimants who genuinely could not do the job they are being bullied into applying for." I’ve been thinking a lot about #stress lately. 🤔 Maybe it is because @clmaiorino and I are working on something for our #tribe to help manage stress. 😍 Maybe it is because #stress (both “good” + “bad”) has been in my life more often lately. Maybe it is because (for me personally) that stress is one of my biggest triggers for #crohnsdisease . Whichever reason it is, stress has been on my mind often in recent weeks, especially in relation to how organized I am. For those of you that know me, you know what I’m talking about. I mean well but organization isn’t the easiest thing for me to stay consistent with. 🤷🏼♀️ HOWEVER, just because something doesn’t come easily to us doesn’t mean that we still don’t try to pursue it, right? While I was out running errands this morning, I picked up a mini weekly/monthly planner. I usually use my iPhone for events, reminders and such, but I’m finding that tool to be ineffective in helping me be more organized... SO back to old school stuff it is: a planner, to do lists and a LARGE dose of focus + determination. 😎 Living with a #chronicillness automatically pulls so many moving parts into the mix that is our lives: appointments, medications, supplements, adequate sleep, work, friends, #advocacy , #passionprojects etc. It is SO easy to get SUPER OVERWHELMED. I know I do! 🙋🏼♀️😬 so I’m implementing some new tools to help me stay sane 🤣 We’d LOVE to hear from our #tribe though! 💕 What are your favorite tools to help you stay organized? 📝
