Day 50 of 100 - woke up sick today - sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, wheezy (I’ve had severe asthma since infancy), and a headache SO I decided it’s time for me to slow down & recoup. I have a very important exam coming up that I haven’t put enough studying time into because I’ve let life get in the way and any time I’ve studied at work I’ve been counseled about it because the team that I’m on has constant competing deadlines. Anyways, i think until after the exam I may not be as diligent about posting food pics and such. My exam is on March 9 (day 68) so I’ll be back after that!! I’ll still be doing my #100daysofketo food wise but just not making the time to share every detail. #takingabreak
Currently 48 hours into our #waterfast and deep in #ketoflu . Waiting for the body to switch gears into the wonderful world of ketosis. The health benefits of intermittent fasting are incredible! Look into it, people! I saw a quote today: “do something today that your future self will thank you for”; this is very much that “something”. After this - vegan keto! @debbiefiuza and I are learning to cook y’all!
Just a couple tips before our 100 days starts on Wednesday!
1. Figure out your own personal macros! Google a keto macro calculator and familiarize yourself with the result. Even if you've done it before, go back and reconfigure! Our macros change as our body composition changes. (I really like the one at ruled.me because you can input the net carbs you'd like to stick to. My result is on the next slide----> but be sure to do your own!)
2. Download an app or join a website where you can track your food and progress. I use MyFitnessPal but I've seen others! There are plenty to chose from. I also really like the app Monitor Your Weight for tracking weight loss.
3. Make a plan! We have a couple days until we start so make a meal plan and grab all your keto basics at the grocery store! I stock my fridge full of veggies, eggs, meats, cheeses, and dips and my pantry full of nuts, cheese crisps, extra dark chocolate, protein bars, and pork rinds. Being prepared will keep you from being tempted to cheat! (I'm including my meal prep for this week for a little motivation if you are at a loss!------>>)
4. Set yourself up to succeed! Get rid of the ice cream in the freezer, make a list of things you can do instead of eat when you get stressed, get a new pair of running shoes- do whatever needs done to get you started out on the right foot!
Okay. Hope that helps! We have so many people joining this challenge already and you guys are getting me so stoked and ready! Can't wait to get started!
Behold this $2.76 box o' bacon from Whole Foods. I had a little bit of time before work one morning this week and popped in, made a beeline past the 1435 other NYC shoppers to the hot food bar and they still had bacon. Oh my lard I was so excited (see what I did there)?! Bacon is lightweight, therefore bacon is easy on them pockets y'all. I loaded up and noshed on this all week at work. FOR LESS THAN THREE DOLLARS. It stays crispy (even cold) so, winning. Mike and I are halfway in to our #100daysofketo and going strong. Cheap bacon helps! . . .
So I’m not much of a drinker since #keto . I enjoy a glass of wine or two, but it’s not worth messing up my journey so I rarely drink at all, but tonight I thought I would try to help my cough and my lack of sleep so this is my favorite. The only thing I didn’t do that I would have is add a splash of HWC (mix well). Sounds awful, but tastes like a nuts n berries. You really can find a substitute for just about all things #makeitwork#100daysofketo#becomingalifestyle#picbeforemixed
So I know I posted a side by side yesterday but I was looking through my pictures and realized that wasn’t even from the beginning of my journey! This picture on the left was me in September 2017 and right at the beginning of my adventure. I was probably around 315 pounds here and that wasn’t even my highest. This was as I was easing my way into Keto and tracking my food before I went hard on October 1. I am so so thankful I was able to make the decision to better my life and even more thankful my body agreed and responded well. I haven’t just lost 40 pounds between these pictures, I lost all chest pains/shortness of breath from doing normal activities, lost the terrible acid reflux that would make me choke in the middle of the night, lost my blood pressure meds and the constant fear from my loved ones that I could possibly have a stroke, and I gained a new chance at life giving my family and myself a better version of myself that isn’t constantly in pain or sick or tired. I had a pretty rough time the last couple weeks realizing all of this and self love is something I’m really really trying to get behind. I don’t ever want to be that person I used to be. I said 2018 was my year and I meant it. I’m glad the past couple days have gone smoothly and I’m back full on #keto and kicking butt again. I just needed to make this post to remind me that I’ve already gone so far and I will continuing going. I lay in bed at night and just think how amazing life will be as the healthiest version of myself and I know I’ll get to meet her soon because nothing is stopping me now! Thank you so incredibly much to everyone who supports me and gives me encouragement because it 100% helps and makes me know I can do it! If this is only five months I can’t even wait to see what year does 💃🏼💃🏼 #100daysofketo#lchf#ketotransformation
(Day 15) #100daysofketo trying to not let the scale bother me... I know I’ve been under macros yet I’m up a pound? 😑 tmi but has anyone else notice that body odour is stronger in ketosis? It’s not like I’m walking around stinky but I can def tell the difference. Anyways unpictured: fried egg and about 6 slices of very thinly sliced halloumi. *ribs with sriracha- I bought a huge rack of ribs at my local sobeys (Ontario, Canada) for $7.50.. and these were legit Costco size ribs not even about to expire? Weird. Tasty tho😛 #ketofood#ketothread#ketocarnivore#ketodiet#keto#lchf#lowcarb
