Somehow this shape reminds me a Greek vase. Kufumi’s ceramics are very traditional but these pieces are really fit modern western apartments.
His works are displayed in the window @kosaka_nyc, one of finest Japanese #restaurants in #nyc until March 31.

Mr. Hirokazu Baba ( @hirosinemon 1972 ) of Shinemon Kiln in Arita is a potter who I met through Instagram, and as I got an announcement that works will be exhibited at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, I went there. I expected that I wanted Yuteki Tenmoku, but in the evening of the second day sake cups were almost sold. After all the solo exhibition is tough unless I go to the first day. When I was explaining the works from his younger brother, and this work invited me hand. If I ask, this is the work of the late 1st Shinemon, and there are already few numbers left.
Among the works of Shinemon Kiln with many works of bright glaze, I can not take my eyes off the Octopus Arabesque Pattern drawn precisely with underglaze blue close to black.Wave Crest Pattern is my favorite but I do not particularly like Octopus Arabesque. There was also a problem that it was a little big for sake cup because it was Teacup. In addition, there is also my collection policy to prioritize active ceramists over the deceased, so there were a lot of "reasons not to buy".
However, there is something in this work that just blows off these reasons. Perhaps, 1st Shinemon may have wanted to taste delicious sake.

Ooooooh, folks, good news! I've got brand new mugs for an update happening in the next two weeks (date TBA!) and I've still got more and more and more to glaze. There are some new colors coming, and I'll be sharing items coming to the update over the next week or so. This new color is called Arctic Sea! Can't wait to hear what y'all think of it! Have a great rest of your day! ❄️☃️
I love the way @shannontofts has captured the moody surface of this large kame. I like the dark matt effects I get with this clay body but the firebox pieces are extremely prone to cracking. This time round I’m going to make some adjustments to address this. Fingers crossed I’ll still get the feel I’m looking for.
