Fixed up some of @sohlae’s Bengali Rice Porridge with Lentils and Chicken tonight (known as Dal Mangsho in the Bengol language). Her recipe was featured in the past week (or so) on @seriouseats, and I fell in love with it at first sight.
This dish is one of those perfect-on-a-cold-day recipes, which feed the soul, send an incredible fragrance into the air, and keep the kitchen warm and cozy. The pace of the recipe is perfect for relaxing with a beer, wine, or drinky while you put it all together.
For the bread, I cut some rye, basted it with EVOO, ground some rosemary salt and garlic, then fried the backside while melting a little cheese on the top. Served it up with a really sour Belgian-style ale for contrast.
Sohla’s recipe was perfect, and the meal was an instant family fave for us. Enjoy it!
