Was this weekend real life? Surfed the bay and got stung by a jelly fish (non-poisonous, I’m ok), trekked up to the lighthouse, touched the most easterly point of mainland Australia and made some neat new German and Canadian pals 🤙🏼
2/25/18 • Running on three hours of sleep, woke up at 4:45 to be the first person in Australia to watch the sun rise. Walked an hour in the pitch black to the Cape Byron lighthouse, the most easternly point of mainland Australia. The lighthouse was built like a castle fort and was so white against the blues of the ocean and sky. On our way back to town along the coastal walk, we ended up coming across a local surf competition! In the afternoon, we spur of the moment decided to take a surfing lesson! Probably one of the highlights of my trip so far. It was a lot harder than the Australians make it look, their “small” waves are bigger than any waves I come across in Cape Cod. Ended the day with drinks with friends. Another great day in Byron.
